Just left my job the other day, so now I'm kinda down. So I went to Mark's and played games all day. It's what I do to recharge. It didn't work much. We're going to shoot photos tomorrow 'cause it's going to be some kind of warm and sunny. - like record breaking warm. I guess that's good but I'll likely still be down. Anyway, here's the breakdown of what I played today. 

My next rental game is on the way and it's Tales of Berseria! I'm really going to have a tough choice this weekend with Halo Wars 2, still unwrapped, ready to go. I guess I'll start Tales first because I haven't booted up my PS4 in a while, and I miss it. Halo Wars 2 can wait because I own it, and it isn't going anywhere.

I was thinking today of how I played my first games. I think I played in a normal way back in the 80s. On Atari 2600, I played a lot of different stuff, but what I most played were simulations of the sports I was playing, tennis and baseball. Also, I didn't have all the consoles like I have today. I only had an Atari. My friends in the neighborhood had the other consoles, and I'd go there to play them. That's how I experienced the Intellivision and Colecovision. I would go to the arcades on the weekends to play the best that was available in gaming. Games were short and it was rare to spend more than an hour or two on any one game.

I got it with trade-in money. I knocked down my Xbox 360 and Wii collections a bit to do it.

Felt like one thousand.

Can't get enough.

I couldn't pull myself away from this game on XBO the other day to make a blog about it. Right now, I've in a kind of glitch where an animal won't move from the helicopter landing spot, so I can't add a new animal. What the heck!

Time to get focused on 1968 and actual video games rather than related stuff. What was released that year? Well, nothing commercially, I guess, but games were being made for the early computers at various institutions. Apparently there were a lot of business sims being written in the early programming languages and some people got creative with it like Doug Dyment and his game Hamurabi (misspelled, whether by accident or not I don't know, with one "m") which attempts, in text, to simulate the economy of a 3000 BC Sumerian city. It was also called The Sumer Game for some versions, and it was later rewritten for BASIC by David H. Ahl and put in BASIC Computer Games, published in 1973. The 1978 edition became the first million selling computer book. This version of the game is thus the best known.

After I picked up Disney Infinity figures Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse at a Gamestop the other day for their clearance price of $5 each, I started organizing my Disney Infinity swag by putting them in some backpacks and shoulder bags I got at Goodwill. That got me thinking about my Skylanders. I have bags for those too but I remembered I saw some custom bags at a Five Below near me. So I went there and bought two at $5 each, one for Skylanders Giants and the other for Swap-Force. Yea, so I'm still doing this Gaming-by-Association thing on the side of my rentals. Why? It's fun.
