I was a true patriot of Diablo III by playing all afternoon on Sunday. Then, I had to work during the first three quarters of Super Bowl, racing back to my friend's place to see the fourth and get right back to D3. You could call me a Diablatriot.

Willkommen flatlanders! Some days of the week I wear a collared shirt, but it annoys me to tuck it in. So I don’t, but I imagine people are thinking I am a slob. So I thought I’d compromise and go Nathan Drake on it and do the half-tuck. But, I’m not sure how that works. So let’s take look at that.

Concerning Dragon Magazine 81, January 1984, the year Dr. Seuss (Theodor Geisel) was given the Pulitzer Prize. He also published The Butter Battle Book, a tale metaphorical of The Cold War arms race. In ’89, a TV special was made of it directed by famous animator Ralph Bakshi! There were a couple of Dr. Seuss video games made based on the movies. There was The Grinch on PS1, which also got ported to DS. It looks pretty average but at least they give you a jet pack. Then, there was Cat in the Hat for PS2/Xbox that looks a little bit better. Anybody know that Manowar song Kill with Power? It's a silly song from a silly rock group, but that's what I was singing while playing Diablo III today. It was appropriate though, as Mark and I trounced enemy after enemy with explosions of swordplay and magic.

Played Diablo III today. I played solo the whole time because Mark is over level 60 now and plowing through Inferno Mode. I'll never catch up now! GOSH!

More riffing on Dragon Magazine 81, January 1984. The rock group, The Police, played their last tour in 1984. The only video game connection I can think of is that drummer, Stewart Copeland, over a decade later, did the music for Spyro the Dragon and its three sequels. I just passed 50k gamer score on Xbox live. Technically, I have about 3k more than this, but that 3k was on my old gamertag. Still, 50k is a nice number that makes me want to reminisce about my favorite achievements going back all the way to 2007.

Continuing with Dragon Magazine 81, Jan. 1984. In this month, you might have played Atari’s laserdisc arcade game Firefox, based on the Clint Eastwood movie. It probably got made because of the success of Dragon’s Lair the year before. I have a vague memory of seeing this game in an arcade, but I don’t think I ever played it. I played a whole bunch of Diablo III today with my friend Mark. I've discovered that Barbarians and Wizards really don't get along. Seems like we were at each other's throats most of the time. I think it was due to playing on easy. You don't really need two characters at that difficulty, so it becomes a competition for who gets the most kills quickest. After a while, I had to take a diferent part of the map so we wouldn't be kill-stealing each other. When we start playing this game for real on higher difficulty, I'm sure we'll cooperate more; we'll have to.
