Gamer's block? Yeah, kinda feeling it.

I been there too. Got to a point where I was like "Have I actually outgrown video games?"  It passed, but I have to say even though I still enjoy them its just not the same. I can't really get into even a really good game the the way I could in my late teens and early twenties. And yeah I'd be a lot better drummer a much better writer if not for this time devouring hobby.

I guesse its the flip flops and the wife beater, but the sumo cop reminds me of Carl from Aquateen Hunger Force. lol. Really cool stuff though, like the roller blade devil/angel girl.

Who knows?  They'er like sharks teeth, lose one out of touch non-gamer upper management type and he'll likely get replaced with a photo copy of himself. This is the problem with all big companies, the guys at the top are completely clueless as to what goes on at the bottom of the chain. They make a lot of bad decisions based on nothing but numbers. Penny wise but dollar foolish as my Grandma would say.

Rage Quit: Hard Mode

With modern games I think AI is a factor too. A lot of games have enemies that are using some reasonably smart AI, changing an enemies aggressiveness or tactics can be a good way to increase the difficulty. Or just different attacks or attack patterns. For example Borderlands 2, admittedly going from normal to True Vault Hunter mode for most enemies just swaps pallets and adds to their hp. But some enemies and bosses get some new moves or tactics. Bloodwing is way harder in TVM than normal because she has completely different tactics and they also add acid spitting skags to the fight.

Mass Effect also makes enemes fight smarter and more aggresively on the harder difficulties. I think it depends on the game, but a combination of all the above should be factored into a games difficulty. I think making difficulty more customizable would be cool too.

The Ethics of Releasing a Buggy Game

Saw on a twitter feed that Gearbox was putting out a 4GB patch for Colonial Marines. 4 gigs for a patch? Considering all the bad reviews I suppose I shouldn't be supprised, just overhaul the whole game, but thats a lot of HD space. Wrote a blog on 1up about how small patches and updates can really accumulate and devour your harddrive. Why should I have to sacrifice hd space cause a game developer can't get it right on release and wants to throw out an incomplete game. It would be like buying a record from your favorite band and the studio rushes the mixing process and does not bother to get it mastered. It is going to sound like crap. No one does that. We don't accept this kind of rushed crap in our music or movies, so why should we have to put up with it in our games.

Collecting PS2 games

I have Devil Summoner 1(very cool game), could have got the collectors edition Devil Summoner 2 in the big box with a plush Jack Frost for $30, but I was dead broke at the time.Seen on ebay since for $150 or more. Still kickin myself over that one. Got a copy of Grandia 2 in realy good shape at gamestop for $8, and just recently Digital Devil Saga for $13. It had been $35 for the longest but the store was closing so they were getting rid of stuff. Don't plan to resell these, got them cause I wanted them.

Yeah, most likely gotta skip all the optional missions which means you'd miss a lot of loot. Even on easy could be tough if your sporting weak gear. No, doesn't sound very fun.

Mass Effect Trilogy is it worth the purchase?

Cruisin' Thru Mass Effect

Yeah I sunk probably a little over 40 hrs into Mass1 and I don't think I played the dlc, not sure. Got over 50 into Mass 2 and I know I didn't get the dlc on it. I'm 10 hrs into Mass 3, pretty intense and I haven't even tried the multiplayer yet. Might could beat all three games in a month if you don't work and hardly sleep. Sounds like a Guiness record challenge.

Cruisin' Thru Mass Effect

I just finished Mass 2 and just started Mass 3, going marathon on them. I could be wrong but I think Ash and Liara are the only ones you can hook up with on the first game. I Didn't like Ash either with her racist speciest attitude, got Liara. Got to keep Wrex too, used him exclusively. Although you can hook up with Tali in Mass 2, I stayed faithful to Liara and probably will on this first play through. I have a feeling I will be playing through this trilogy for years.

As for the abilities and weapon swap you have to hold down the R2 abilities and L2 weapons. I played as an infiltrator in Mass 1 and even though the Sniper should have been my main weapon it was so hard to use I pretty much stuck with the pistol too. But the abilities can be very useful and keep thing interesting.
