Papa Was A Rolling Stone! Love that one, what a classic song. I was only familiar with a few of their songs. Never realized how versatile they are. Great music!

Welcome! I'm looking forward to seeing what you have to say. Especially after reading that comment you made on Tami's blog today. You absolutely nailed it.

Is combat necessary in games?

I think Caesar really made some excellent points. Especially the part about the popularity of military FPS games in America. Perhaps they are a form of propaganda for the military. I remember at one point the Army made it's own Call Of Duty style game. Think it was Full Spectrum Warrior. They put on these silly competitions at shopping malls. All in an effort to recruit young people into the service. Maybe the abundance of games of this type in America says something about us. That we need to condition the young to be ready for war. It's very insidious that the Army tried to use games as a tool like that.

GLaD 16: Videomation + Screw You, I'm Irish Saturday

I'm planning to include both Flogging Molly and The Dropkick Murphys in my blog tomorrow. Love both of those bands. Where would this country be without the Irish? Nowhere, that is where. That's why everyone needs to give em' some love. Not just tomorrow, but all the time. By the way,I'm a bit tipsy myself at present. Been sampling a bottle of Irish whiskey that I got today. It's Bushmill, but it's something new. Irish Honey it's called. Lotta whiskey companies are doing that. Honey gives it a smooth and lightly sweet flavor. Good stuff!

I think metal is something you are raised to love. Was for me anyway. My brother turned me onto Sabbath at a very young age. I just took it and ran. Been listening to it ever since, and I am 47. My tastes encompass a lot of metal, but tons of other music, too.

You and Tami do extremely good music blogs. Lot of them in a list format, which is awesome. I admire the research you both put into them. It has inspired me to include music in my blogs. But rather than mimic you and your chosen format I think I will just add them on to regular blogs. Like I did today. I'm gonna try to keep it fresh and interesting. Give a bit of song info if needed. I'll also try to switch up music types to not get stale. I look forward to hearing and seeing what you come up with. It's always cool and educational. You can't beat that!

This one looks a bit more my speed. I like the grid orientation of it. Is it anything like FF Tactics? I was pretty good at that one. I saw this game at Vintage Stock last week. May go by on Monday and see if it's still there.

Is combat necessary in games?

Been running into this issue in Tomb Raider. Some areas become like a scene from Gears Of War. Is that much combat needed for Lara to prove she's a badass? Not really, they just add it to sell to a wider group of gamers. Journey proves that you can make a very good game without all the bloodshed. Just realized that my son knows an awful lot about guns. Types, calibers, ammo, stocks, silencers, you name it. He's an expert. He gained this knowledge from video games. Is it really that necessary?

Now this part I do remember. I wish more games put little objects like that in there. Exploration is a fun part of any game. Need more of it.

Every now and then they get it right on iOS. GTA Vice City controls rather well once you get used to it. Graphics are much sharper than on PS2 version.
