Odin Sphere Review and Atlus Digression

Posted on 07/01/2013 at 09:20 PM | Filed Under Blogs

That sounds like what my hours would have been had I stayed with that door-to-door sales job. That's rough. Glad you've got more time again.

As for Atlus, I can't really say much, having not played Persona or Odin's Sphere, or the time traveling one you mentioned, but I imagine people are having similar attachments to these games I did to Nintendo: yeah, it gets stale and repetitive after a while, but I know what I'm getting, and that it's at least solid, if not a AAA title, like what you're saying Atlus fails to deliver.

Oh well, at least this niche company has been able to stick around.

Games I want on Next Gen (what about you?)

Yeah, that game does look pretty sweet.

Sex, Violence, and Growing Pains

I agree with the assertion we all need to calm our collective shit about sexual depictions in media, but I can see where Machocruz is coming from regarding their pointlessness oftentimes. That's not a reason to ban them though (though I could endorse some age restrictions etc.), that's merely a personal preference.

I think a dating sim with sexual positions could be amusing, though for how long I don't know. I definitely don't think it should be an illegal option though, especially when we depict acts of violence that most would be much less inclined to do naturally. Maybe video games could be good tools to teach about safe sex? Probably not, but I'd appreciate any humorous attempts. Laughing

As for watching porn, as of January 1, 2014, I won't be joining you in lieu of a two year jail pentaly. My state legislature is not the best or brightest when it comes to resource management in terms of what law enforcement should be focusing on. Idiots. I never thought imagination would serve as a way of ... "sticking it" ... to the man, but here we are, two days out from U.S. Independence Day. Joy.

Edit: That last bit turns out is from a parody website. I only know of the Onion. I've been had. lol Sad that I thought that was real. I wouldn't necessarily put it past them.

I know what you guys mean about digital media being more convenient. My ... not really flip-flop towards XBO could have also happened if they had clarified that you would have a removable/upgradeable Hard Drive (I was a bit surprised to see PS4 had one, XBO didn't) and could download your games there instead of the cloud. Hell, maybe they could have said "you can copy the stuff you buy from your hard drive to a blank Blu-Ray;" best of both worlds, without the unnecessary cost on their end to distribute boxes at that point.

It didn't help that our Time Warner cable was being screwy at the same time the XBO stuff came out, but I also don't trust the cloud and having my stuff on servers. I feel at least a little differently about digital downloads to something I own that is in my house, like a Hard Drive.

Angelko's right about people that are really invested in Halo though; I'd be interested in more of what he had to say about how they actually nailed their core audience, I think he has a point: FPS fans with good broadband who are also active television viewers could very easily be their biggest demographic, it wouldn't surprise me.

That sucks. For me, I love running in the rain, but I get why people don't like it, it is a hassle to clean those clothes if it happens every day.
