BaD 5: theHunter: Call of the Wild

Remember when Deer Hunter games were really popular in the 90's?  You know who really liked to play those in my family?  My grandmother, actually!  They had a few of them on her computer and she loved playing them!  She got the high score on all of them, too!  She always wished they would make a game where you just take photos of the animals, though.

Forgotten Gaming Mascots #3: Karnov

Yeah Karnov will be in Smash when Waluigi is in Smash.  Actually I don't care about Waluigi, but it seems the internet sure likes him.  But if Karnov makes it in Smash, you know what that means?  KARNOV AMIIBO!

The last game Karnov was in was actually Heavy Burger, a fun twin stick shooter that was also a mash up of classic Data East arcade titles.  I reviewed it a couple of years ago:

David Crane, creator of Pitfall, also made the Atari Activision Tennis game.

I bet people who played Diddy Kong Racing on the N64 a lot later were confused as to why Conker would be in that game.  They took him out of the DS version.

Forgotten Gaming Mascots #5: Chuck Rock

Here's another mascot that was more popular in Europe, since his game as well as James Pond were on popular European computers at the time, like the Amiga.  I always wanted to play the Chuck Rock games, but never got around to it.  Did you know at one point they were going to make a Chuck Rock kart racer?

Yeah there were a lot of caveman games back then, huh?  Speaking of forgotten mascots from Data East, remember Joe & Mac?  They were caveman ninjas in two main games, a third game that was like Bubble Bobble called Joe & Mac Returns, and a spinoff game called Congo's Caper.  And like Karnov, they also showed up in other games like TumblePop.

CORE also made a SEGA CD mascot platformer that I always wanted to play called Wonder Dog.

I've always wanted to play Grim Fandango, but haven't been able to yet.

Before Conker's Bad Fur Day, Rare had him in a more family friendly 3-D platformer on the N64 and I played a preview version of it at E3 one year.  I was really looking forward to it, so I was disappointed when they decided to make him be in a more adult game.

Forgotten Gaming Mascots #3: Karnov

In cat breeding terms, 'blue' is just another word for 'gray.'  I'm not sure WHY that is, but that's it.  Russian Blues are very pretty cats, though.  And smart, too!  I taught my old cat Chekov how to play fetch, open doors, and even use the toilet instead of the litter box.  I'm not joking either!

My gosh, how many Karnov games do you want?  Data East put him EVERYWHERE back then.  I mean, he was even an enemy in the Russian stage of TumblePop!

I never had a 2600 as a kid so I don't have any special memories with these gamse.  But even if I did have a 2600, I'd probably be more interested in the arcade ports and such.
