Major Shift in Xbox One Policies

Posted on 06/20/2013 at 01:15 PM | Filed Under News

This is basically what has gone down since E3, with Sony being Bane and M$ being Batman. The theatricality and deception line is particularly relevent. I agree with Yargz, Microsoft heard the sounds of stock plummeting, and that scared them enough to do an about-face. The Kinect is still a deal-breaker for me, and I feel overall they could have adapted GOOD forward-thinking policies that gamers would be onboard with. I see it as a lack of ability to develop an innovative and logical model on Microsoft's part.

Gamer Casting Couch: A Silent Hill Film Done Right

How did I know you would like the Michelle Williams inclusion, Aaron? lol. I have actually never seen Marilyn act, I think I have to get on that! And agreed, Hoffman is a damn good actor - he is amazing in dramas, and in comedies he steals the show.

Thanks for stopping by Aaron!

Gamer Casting Couch: A Silent Hill Film Done Right

Thanks man! I can't argue with you there; the best way to approach a Silent Hill film could very well be an all-original story (perhaps a collaboration between awesome screen writers and Team Silent?), but I decided to take the approach of which game (IMO) they should adapt. I think a lot of Revelation's problems had to do with the pacing, visuals, an over-reliance on CG, etc. To me, it looked like a Syfy Channel original move, and that is not a compliment lol.

Thanks for commenting bud!

DeadWood is one of my all-time favorites. In terms of characters, atmosphere, and storytelling, it might be the richest Western I've ever seen. They clearly did their research with the details, like the abundance of swearing which was seen as very "american" and fashionable at the time. I don't think I even have to go into how good Game of Thrones is; it's just too awesome. Carnivale was great, too, and ended way too soon. Here's hoping with services like Netflix, those rumors about a DeadWood revival are brought into existence.

In terms of True Blood - the way this Season picked up it seems almost like a throwback to the original premise of the show: the social tensions between humans and vampires. It has seemed to dial back the camp, which I think is a very good thing; Lafayette provides quality comedic timing/relief, the whole show doesn't have to be silly as shit.  Whenever the show veers into witchcraft/fairy stuff it suffers in my opinion.

Games That Should have Movie Adaptions Part 1

Given the amount of lore at their disposal, a sprawling, epic Castlevania series akin to Game of Thrones could be pretty awesome.

I was blown away by that Zelda Project, it looks beautiful! It strikes me as the kind of story that, visually, might not have been possible to adapt until now. Thank you for sharing!

Favorites of E3 2013: In Picture Form

That's an awesome way to present the list, Jesse! Awesome images! In no particular order, the titles that peaked my interest were:

The Witcher 3, New Yoshi's Island, Duck Tales Remastered, Watch Dogs, Mario Kart, Super Smash Brothers, Murdered: Soul Suspect, Mirror's Edge 2, Mario and Luigi: Dream Team, Dead Rising 3, Day Z standalone, the Castle of Illusion Remake, and Super Mario 3D World.

I was really hoping for news on a new Red Dead, and a teaser for Fallout 4 wouldn't have hurt, either!

The Big Bang Theory - A Show For Morons

Agreed! It doesn't seem that they watered down TWD or GoT at all, which is awesome to see. I was surprised they even made parts of GoT more brutal than the books were!

And just wait til you get to Season 3 of Being Human - shit gets craaaazy!!

PUNK TUESDAY!

Good stuff man, especially with the TSOL! Thought I'd throw in an old all-time favorite of mine -

Censored by Razorfist? Only you Brokeh, only you!

The Chris Jericho comment had me laughing! To me, this cat comes off as a cartoon: "Grrr I'm abrasive and swear a lot!! I have long hair and a Motorhead poster, watch out!!" But apparently logical debate is beyond him. Agreed, there are far better game commentators out there that don't have the reactionary tendencies of a toddler.

The Big Bang Theory - A Show For Morons

I strongly dislike this show for many of the same reasons you do - it just simply isn't funny. I always imagined the creative process behind the show to be something akin to the producers being suits who were douchebags in high school, high-fiving because they "totally pegged those nerds with the Nintendo joke, Yeah Bruh!!" The early seasons of The Office were funny because they reflected a truth, a sometimes exaggerrated truth, but a truth none the less of the awkward atmosphere of office employment. And agreed that awareness doesn't always equate to intelligence - the world is full of morons who ravenously combat logic and forward-thinking ideas with mind-numbing stupidity.

Every generation has their time when the mainstream becomes very aware of, and co-opts, counter-culture: skinny jeans (started out as a hardcore/scene thing, at least here in the states), glasses becoming fashionable, two of the biggest shows on TV being about a zombie apocalypse comic and pseudo-medieval fantasy novels, gaming becoming the most lucrative entertainment industry, etc. While usually this leads to dumbing down of challenging material for the head and ass-scratching masses, I like to hope that exposure to these things can have an enlightening effect; that one more Game of Thrones will lead to one less Two and a Half Men.

Bit off topic, but have you seen the U.K. version of 'Being Human'? The states version is utter balls, but Seasons 1-3 of the U.K. BH, especially the finale of 3, are pretty damn good.
