The Marshall Mathers LP II Review

Posted on 11/01/2013 at 04:25 PM | Filed Under Blogs

I remember using the Joel Whitburn Pop Annual book (which lists all the songs that were on the Billboard Hot 100 since 1955) as my Bible for a while there and Eminem's song "My Name Is" was there but labeled as a Novelty song. The song had a humerous tone to it, but I don't know if should've been labeled as a Novelty. I liked the track but never got into his music beyond that, except of course, for the parody done by Weird Al, "Couch Potato" based on "Lose Yourself"

Looking Forward to Next Gen

Yea, I just went on a binge of this-gen games and am contemplating a second run. As soon as the new system's games start hitting Gamestops on November 15, they'll be trying to get rid of last gen stuff with lots of sales. It's a great time to build the collection. I have a few titles in mind like Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, and WarHammer 40,000 Space Marine for 360 and Afrika for PS3.

Another Tricky Day in Oblivion

It's required gaming for the Xbox 360, if for nothing else than to play the opening escape from the dungeon. Heck, you can do that for free by playing the demo (if it's still available). I still remember coming out of the dungeon and into the light for the first time and marveling at the beauty of the Cyrodiil land and sky.

Amazing VG Themes: Creepy Themes

Majora's Mask really is a good Halloween game. It's creepy and that song is really creepy. I had to stop it half way through 'cause it was freaking me out.

How Video Games Can Sharpen Senior Brains

Posted on 10/31/2013 at 02:57 PM | Filed Under Blogs

My Mom's 70, she's into games like Suduko and Cut the Rope on her iPad. She doesn't need any brain sharpening (she's got a PHD in biochem) and these games certainly don't do much for that anyway. I played Brain Age on DS a while back and got pretty bored with it after a few days. No challenge at all. That Mensa Academy game was equally too simple and boring. If you want to tune up a brain, turn a real life skill into a game-like system like what was done with Rocksmith. Learning real skills is what improves a brain, not playing carrot-on-a-rope type adictive nonsense like Farmville.
