I think I had Rayman 2 on Dreamcast.  It was good, but I lost interest in it as well, for some reason.

One year at E3, when Ubisoft was first showing off Rayman 2, they had a stage show with a talking Rayman on a green screen, and he was talking to us live.  He actually called me up on stage to interact with him for a bit, so I looked like I was in the game with him.  They gave me a video tape of me on stage with him, and when I brought it home and showed it to my little brothers, it blew their little minds that I appeared to be in a game with Rayman.  Now if only I could get into Space Channel 5... :)

My friend bought Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy when we were kids.  I liked them, but not enough to buy them for myself.  I was perfectly happy with playing them at my friend's house.  We would take turns with someone playing the game, and someone looking at maps and bestiaries to tell the other player what to do.

Remember the Captain N cartoon?  They had a Dragon Warrior episode once and my friend and I were excited because I spent the night over at his house that Friday night, and Saturday morning we got up and thought it was cool that it was a Dragon Warrior episode because that was the game we were playing at the time.

I really didn't get into RPGs myself until the SNES, with games like FF4, FF6, Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, etc.  And since none of the 16-bit Dragon Quest games came out over here, I missed out on those, so Dragon Quest was never a series I got into as much.  My favorite Dragon Quest game is Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime on the DS.  If you've never played it, you really should!

Yeah I'll definitely visit.  Like before, it'll take a bit of pre-planning, but we'll do it.  Get used to getting presents in the mail in the meantime, though.

Well at least Druaga has a sword button. :)  I think a lot of other games were inspired by Druaga, too, including The Legend of Zelda!

Ys and Cadash are great, but they do suffer from some problems that old games have that have been improved upon since then.

I got the Splatterhouse game on 360 for 20 bucks.  It was actually the special edition from Namco's Web site when they had a huge sale, so it came with a Terror Mask statue, too!  I also got the game because I knew it had the three classic titles on it, but you have to beat the main game to unlock those, which I knew I'd never do after playing it.  Blech.  Only good thing I can say about the new Splatterhouse game is that Jim Cummings was the voice of the Terror Mask.  I was hoping he'd say something like "Let's get dangerous." but I don't think that happened.

You had a SEGA Master System?  As a kid, I only knew one person who had one.  I'd go over to his house to play Fantasy Zone: The Maze and Spy vs. Spy.  I didn't want to admit it, but the SEGA Master System version of Spy vs. Spy was better than the NES one.

Parasol Stars is a GREAT game!  I suggest you look it up sometime.

Yeah one bad thing about video games is there is a rush to see the next big thing, and not appreciate what we already have around us, so things tend to get forgotten more.

2002 wasn't a great year, as I was still reeling from the year before.  But at least nothing new had happaned that was bad.  Since I wasn't writing for the newspaper anymore, my friend made a little web site that I wrote some reviews on, but it paled in comparison to what I was doing before.  

Two big games I remember playing in 2002 were The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, and the first Animal Crossing game.  At the time, I felt I was the only person who LIKED Wind Waker's style.  And I don't think anything needs to be said about Animal Crossing.  The first one is still one of my top five favorite games of all time.  Mainly because you could play NES games on it!  My birthday was especially sucky that year, but on my birthday in Animal Crossing, Prince the frog showed up at my door to give me my birthday present, the NES game Donkey Kong!  Sadly, that was probably one of the best things I got that year for my birthday!

Luckily, things started getting better in 2003, but I'll get to that when you write your blog for that year.

I think I reviewed Spirit of the North a long time ago when it was on the Wii U.  Is that the one about Alaskan folklore?

We'll have to plan on visiting each other's AC towns sometime.  It may take a bit of pre-planning since I imagine we are both busy with work right now.  I'd love to help you out in that game in any way I can.  That's what I like about Animal Crossing is that you can 'help' people without lifiting a finger. :)

I never really got into this game but there's no denying its popularity.  I saw it everywhere in arcades.  Even grocery stores had it.  I think it's interesting that it's based off a movie in Japan and there was a NES sequel and Game Boy spinoff.  Also a spiritual sequel in the arcades called Vigilante I think.

That's the first thing I would do is find the other player to see what they look like.
