My brother Jeff tells me about this game all the time lately. He doesn't own it, but watches videos of people playing it. He's a fan of Metal Gear so I think that's why he's interested in it.

You do stay in the ship always.
The spaceships fit better on the Switch controllers, but I did have to move the Star Fox ship's wings a bit so they wouldn't hit my thumbs!
It's not. Trust me. I've played them both.
The Switch onine service lets you play online games, save on clouds, and play NES and SNES games. I didn't get it at first because playing Smash online didn't draw me in enough to pay 20 bucks for. However, once Super Mario Maker 2 came out, they had a version you could get where the subscription was 10 bucks off. So I got that and the subscription for just ten bucks. Not bad. I think you can get a hard copy of Tetris 99 with that same discount as well.
You don't have to pay extra for NES and SNES games. You just pull up the program and play whatever games you want from a menu that's like an online version of the NES and SNES Minis. It's pretty neat except you always have to be online to play them. That's my only gripe.
I would say that the online service isn't bad for only ten bucks, but half the time I play a round of Tetris 99, I get kicked out. Come on, Nintendo, it's just Tetris, it shouldn't be that hard. I bet my Tetris 99 online ranking would be MUCH higher if it worked better. Also I heard most other online games are laggy as well. So yeah, lots of room for improvement. I definitely wouldn't pay more than ten bucks for this.
I reviewed Starlink last year.

I can't imagine getting anything but the Switch version, though, because of Star Fox.
I think the only other Starlink thing I'd get is the Razor figure, because I think she looks cool. But the figures are so dinky it would have to be REALLY cheap for me to get it. And I really don't play Starlink anymore anyway.
I've never played Advance Wars or Fire Emblem. Just not into strategy.
In Wind Waker's defense, and this is kind of a weak excuse, but in past Zelda games since Link to the Past, running into trees to knock things down from them has been kind of a puzzle staple. Plus it's just fun to make Link run into things like an idiot.
I use guides all the time. No shame in that. Games are supposed to be fun, and getting stuck in one isn't. So whatever you have to do to make the game fun is fine.
I think we are spoiled with the Internet now, since it's so easy to look up a guide. Remember when we'd have to get an actual guide or wait for a magazine to get a solution to a game problem? I do miss print strategy guides, though. Many of them were MUCH better written than today's online guides.
I saw Yo-Kai Watch at my Five and Below as well. I already have the game, and couldn't think of anyone else who would like it, so I didn't get it. Yo-Kai Watch was really popular in Japan for a while. It's a Pokemon ripoff with ghosts, but not near as good.
Yeah I think the 2nd Encore just means it has all the DLC and stuff.
My Friend Pedro hasn't even been out that long and it's already on Game Pass? Devolver (who I also have a good relationship with), offered me a review copy, but it didn't look like my kind of game so I declined.
An RPG with 16-bit style graphics sounds great. Dying a lot does not.
