At the same time, people who played/saw the game at conventions suggested it simply wasn't ready yet. This may end up helping the game by giving it more time in the shop...assuming stuff like Destiny and Titanfall don't steal all the hype anyway.
I'm seeing little reason to buy a next-gen console right away. My PC and Vita should do me just fine until next year. If anything, I might end up getting a 3DS once Smash comes out.
I wish there were more games that looked as unambiguously next-gen as Shadow Fall does at launch. But alas... :(
Indeed, it's all over the place as to whether or not you can tell a difference without a microscope or something. :p
You have stuff like Killzone and Dragon's Dogma that look WAY better, while there's other stuff (EA sports games, COD, AC) in which you can either see no difference or you have to press your nose to the monitor to tell. Plus it's not like there's some big new target in visuals to begin with--they aren't doing 4K Ultra HD on these boxes when it's still super expensive to do it on PC.
It's amazing how much this feels like an extension of current gen rather than a clean break from it. The sheer number of cross-gen titles doesn't help, but it's not like the exclusives are some bold new vision either.
It seems that these companies want to keep the answer to that question as vague as possible, and just get people to buy the new stuff because it's new.
And it would be perfectly fine to have that debate...like rational, civil human beings, rather than the shit flinging monkey nonsense we've seen surrounding the review.
This is why we can't have nice things.
I hate the pedestal that review scores have been put on in gaming.
What kills me about it is...she gave the game a 9/10. People are being bigoted assholes about a 90; they're calling for her to get fired over a 4.5/5. A near perfect score. It amazes me that these morons expect anyone to take them seriously when they're willing to fling shit at anyone who dares to question majority opinon.
And for what? A game that, at the time the review came out, wasn't even out yet. Nobody had ANY solid evidence to even criticize the review to begin with. And again, she LIKED the game overall.
Just...ugh.
That would've made the redesign a day-one purchase for me, easy. I'd love nothing better than to be able to get a 64GB SD card and call it a day. Alternately, a good amount of internal storage (i.e. more than 8GB) would also have been welcome.
