Hmm...I read in a recent article that Sony decided to drop the $70 camera eye at the very last minute giving them a price advantage over the XBONE, which we all know by now. However, what implications will this have for that missing hardware option? You are basically paying extra for the XBONE because of the built in camera, so since their camera will have a larger install base, will XBONE games benefit from it, or will the rallying cry from gamers force them to ignore the KINECT 2.0 altogether and keep games KINECT free? We've aready seen a couple of XBONE KINECT 2.0 games drop KINECT controls, the Roman themed RYSE for example.
PS4 was said to have interesting features when syncing the new controllers to the PS4 eye cam. Like swapping split screens during gameplay, as a rumored feature for example. Also in a game like Drive Club, you were rumored to have been able to track your head movements to check the sides of your car for example. Kind of cool! Will these camera technologies mean much to the the next gen in gaming? What implications will this have towards camera tech in the future? Will Sony suffer software innovations due to lack of camera support?
