I've only taken out a few bosses in Demon's Souls. Dark Souls is so close to being played.

I think another reason for hand holding is that the developers spend so much time and money in creating assets, that they want to make sure that you experience all of it. I read something about Mass Effect 3 and that most people chose the default character and settings and didn't finish the game. Just imagine all the time and planning and work that went into ME3 to give you choices, and most players didn't bother to go through any of it. So dragging you along a straight path might be a way to make sure you see it all. Then the other problem is it can get boring after a while.
I usually post on other sites as well. Joystiq, Gamesradar, and Destructoid to name a few. Writing is time consuming for sure. I like IGN for the TV discussions in the community. XCOM was one of my favorite games last year. As for new consoles, I might skip out on day one purchase this time. I am mostly interested in new games and some old games for PS3, like Gran Turismo 6. If the PS4 won't be backwards compatible, I will need to start building up my PS3 library. A mistake I made with PS2 games.
EA isn't doing so well themselves. As pointed out by this Forbes article and their bad financial earnings which required the CEO to step down citing poor financial returns.
[John Riccitiello, the CEO of EA ] My decision to leave EA is really all about my accountability for the shortcomings in our financial results this year.
The always-on debacle for Sim City and attitude towards DRM, Anti-Piracy Policy, and reliance on DLC were also cited as problems hurting the company image.
They aren't on WiiU because they can't afford to make games for every console anymore and Nintendo won't bow down to their ridiculous DRM policies. FIFA for WiiU was aweful. I would rather they not make games for my console if they aren't going to make a good effort. Yeah, I'm blaming EA for making a bad game as a reason for poor sales and not Nintendos hardware. On the software front, Nintendo might have lower quantity but definitely higher quality which is why Nintendo will still get my dollars in the end.
Well the 3DS has an online multiplayer and local coop mode, so I'm assuming the console versions should be not different.
It's essentially the same game really. I haven't read up too much on extras for this version, so I might cave in and buy. I bought RE4 several times for different consoles, so...
I would wait on a price drop or added games to to the current library. Revelations is being released on other consoles as well so you can try it out then.
Super Metroid on the gampad is really cool. Especially with headphones on. The gamepad is hard to sell to people but it's great for virtual console games, and new games as well.
The screen size of the 3DS is a bit of a problem for me too, which is why I think I prefer WiiUs larger screen size. But it's a minor complaint. I beat the game on 3DS just fine.
