I think the only game series I definitely replay almost every year is the Metroid series. Lately, it's mostly been either Metroid, Metroid II, or Metroid Prime 1. In fact, I just beat the original Metroid about a week ago (I'm gearing up to write a review).

I think this time around, I'm going to play the Meroid series in the chronological order the series has established (Metroid, Metroid Prime trilogy, Metroid II, etc.). As you can probably tell, it's one of my most favorite game series in all my life of gaming (though I'm not a fan of Other M).

Wow, blast from the past dude. I had Blue; my brother had Red. But we also had the Game Genie, so we'd cheat and use codes that allowed version-specific Pokemon to appear in Red & Blue respectively. That way, we could get all 150 without ever using the trading mechanic (we never had a link cable).

Dang it Matt, now you're tempting me to break sequence and jump right to play FF 9 once I finally finish FF4! Over the years, I've notice how Final Fantasy 9 has quietly recieved higher praise as the best FF game than 7 or even 6 (depending on the person's taste).

I was fortunate enough to get a new copy of the game in a game store about a year ago. My plan was to play through 4, 5, and 6, then skip up to 9 (I already beat 7, and I never got 8), but this review really makes me want to just play 9 because it seems to exemplify all of the things that got me into RPGs in the first place-- interesting characters and a good story. And boy, do it love a good story!

So originally, I my wife and decided to wait a week or two before seeing Star Wars becasue I was concered about having to compete with legions of super fans that will be seeing the movie repeatedly every day for evey showing time. Just wanted to avoid the rush.

Then last night as we began watching watching Return of the Jedi, the wife pauses and then says "hey...wanna  take off work early and see the new Star wars on Friday?"

That was all it took. 5 mintues later we had tickets reserved for an afternoon showing for Friday. Who were we kidding? There's just no way we could wait an entire week or 2 to see the movie. Plus like you, I waaaay to worried about spoikers being revealed before I see it. By that point, I'd only have myself to blame.

I will check out Jeremy Jahns review that I'm sure will be up tomorrow at some point. He does great spoiler-free reviews, then follows up with a seperate spoiler filled review for those who have seen the movie already (but he warns you well ahead of time).

I'm glad you posted this because I'm always wondering how long certain games in my backlog are. If I can find out that information, it'll help me to know if I want to start a particular game or no.
