Third World Countries

Posted on 06/29/2016 at 08:07 AM | Filed Under Blogs

Malawi is a fairly small country and is easily missed when looking at Africa as a whole.  If you can find Zambia or Mozambique Malawi is between them I think.

we spent this past weekend at Mt Mulanje, which is the highest peak in the region.  Kilimanjaro is taller, but that is in the Northern part of the continent.  There are a lot of mountains here in general.  We also stopped at one of the many Tea Estates for some coffee beans.  If I remember correctly, Satemwa has 890 hectares of tea fields.

We are headed to Lake Malawi tomorrow.  It is one of the biggest lakes in the world and has an incredible amount of biodiversity.

its  a very beautiful country.

I am taking a break from life and hoping to get some perspective while visiting my Uncle and his family who have been out here for years.

Episode 89: Wibbly-Wobbly, Timey-Wimey

I don't want to forget to do this, especially since I don't know if I will have any type of Internet before the next recording.  I had two games that came to mind from 2011.  The first that popped up for me was Bulletstorm and that will have to be my pick.  there was just something about the apparently juvenile localization and the outrageous weapons and the scoring of your kills that really resonated with me.  I had a blast and was happy to hear that there might be a re-release.

the other game that came to mind was The Witcher 2, but I didn't play it until the 360 port a year later.

I still don't enjoy open worlds, I might be doomed.

Thank you.  That is exactly what I was thinking, but I have been having issues coming up with a way to express it that makes sense.  I always reference Dishonored, here are your tools and your objective...  have fun trying to break the game.

I know what you mean, I don't really like open-world games.  That being said, I have been having a blast with Saint's Row IV.  I think that I prefer the fantastical nature of the game and the overall game is fairly small compared to other open-world games like any of the GTA games.

I think Zelda will be just fine.  From everything I understand it will end up being a return to form in some ways.  The original game was pretty "open" and you could go and do almost whatever you wanted in whatever order you want.

I know that I have talked about it in the past, but I really think that open-world and sandbox are no longer interchangable.  When GTA III was released I think that game had a nice sandbox feel to it, but nowadays open-world games stick to a farily specific formula.  This formula, the one that is associated with nearly all Ubisoft games, I don't think can be referred to as a sandbox anymore.

When growing up, sandboxes where around for me to play in and use my imagination to do whatever I want.  These new open-world games don't really allow me to use my imagination to do whatever I want.

Not the physical store.  They have a retro classics tab hidden on their website where they have NES, SNES, GB, GBC, GBA, PSOne, Genesis and now Saturn games.

I got a copy of DuckTales a couple months ago from GameStop.  I thought that the $20 they were asking wasn't too bad.

I had completely forgotten about I'm Shakin.  Brings back memories of watching The O.C.

I agree, if you have the opportunity, you should play the remake/reboot/reimagining.

A Quick Update

I wish that I took more time to read.  I have such a massive stack of books in my backlog.  The highest on the list being The Wise Man's Fear.

I played through the first God of War on Vita.  I didn't like that the R2 button was mapped to the touchpad, otherwise I thought it was a pretty good port.
