Yoku's Island Express is very good.

Adventure Time: Jake & Finn Investigations is a pretty decent little point and click adventure, too.  I was surprised at it.

Zen and the 1920s

I reviewed that Sakura Wars game a while back.  It's pretty weird, llike an alternate timeline where they had mechs back then.  It's a strategy RPG, which I'm not a big fan of.  It also has dating sim elements which I'm not a big fan of either.  Although I did like the crazy cowgirl lady who let her horse live in her apartment.

Cary Wrecks Winter Movies!

Since the Spider-Man movie won the Oscar for best animated film, I wonder if they'll keep it in theaters a bit longer?  At any rate, I have noticed that movies aren't in theaters as long as they used to be.

BaD Deal - Jungle Hunt

Posted on 03/01/2019 at 12:05 PM | Filed Under Blogs

Jungle Hunt was made by Taito, the same folks who made Space Inavaders and Bubble Bobble.  I never played the 2600 version of Jungle Hunt, although it doesn't LOOK bad in comparison.   I did see the arcade version of Jungle Hunt EVERYWHERE in arcades when I was a kid, though.  Originally, Jungle Hunt was called Jungle King, but the Edgar Rice Burroghs lawyers said it was too much like Tarzan, so they changed the jungle guy to a pith helmet explorer.  That wouldn't be the first time that Jungle King got changed, though, as they also redid the game as Pirate Pete.  It was the same game but with pirate graphics.  I never saw that one, though.

OK class, pop quiz!  What is the name of Taito's in-house band?

An Hour with Forgotton Anne. Not BaD at all.

I had the opportunity to review this but I turned it down.  Too many other games!

BaD Day 18: Songs That Remind Me Of....

Posted on 03/01/2019 at 11:56 AM | Filed Under Blogs

Yeah there are other 80s songs that make me think of things I did as a kid.  For instance, for a few years every summer, I'd often visit the local water park, "Wet N Wild."  They would always play the same 80's music on the loudspeakers each year, so when I hear those certain songs now, I think of Wet N Wild.

Some 80s songs are also in games so when I hear those songs now, I think of those games.  Mainly Taiko Drum Master and Activision Anthology.

Pretty BaD - Phantasy Star 2

Posted on 03/01/2019 at 11:53 AM | Filed Under Blogs

When I first played the original Phantasy Star, I was pretty impressed with it, visually.  It looked MUCH better than Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy on the NES.  Unfortunately I didn't like the first person dungeons.

I was a SNES kid and didn't have a Genesis, so I didn't play Phantasy Star 2 and 3 back in the day.  When I finally did play them, I wasn't much impressed.  But Phantasy Star 4 blew me away.  If I did have a Genesis as a kid, I probably would've been into Phantasy Star 4 as much as I was into FF6!

BaD Trip - Rez

Rez was also on the Dreamcast I think.  I have it on the PS2.  It's neat but I'm not very good at it.

FYI

When I started my lunch break yesterday, I checked Pixlbit on my phone and it wasn't working.  But then at the end of my lunch break, I checked it again and it was working, so it must've not been out for very long.

BaD 17: Sights Unseen

That Mr. Rogers documentary is very good.  I was glued to it the whole time I watched it.

I watched Mr. Rogers as a kid, probably because his voice was so hypnotizing.  But I did either turn of fthe TV or changed channels when his puppets came on, because they were creepy.  I did like the red trolley, though, don't know why.  It's weird to think there is a cartoon show on PBS now that's based on those puppet skits (Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood).
