I wouldn't mind a year of games with bare minimal T & A,Chris. It's not as if I always "enjoy" being sexually frustrated. lol. Though I'm pro expression I think anything thrown in our faces too much can cause subtle psychological damage. Not to the point we end up in asylums but it can still effect us is small ways. Then again, I supply plenty of busty cleavage through my art so maybe I should shut up now before I contradict myself! (Oops, too late!)
I also agree most AAA western games feel like glossy huge production Hollywood movies. With that comes pros and cons but from a gameplay perspective I wish there could be more solutions beyond shooting other living organisms in their faces. (Or in a glowing pulsating weak spot) "Shit gets old" after the 100th time no matter how good the story supporting it is!
Of course Japan regurgitates the same stuff in tedium with stuff like Dynasty Warriors. As much as I love the series I recognize it as "Madden" with feudal warlords. lol. Aka, it's the same hack n slash/light strategy affair in each iteration and very little changes. (Though for the record I was pretty impressed with Warriors Orochi 3 and Dynasty Warriors 7. I'm a masochist,I realize this!)
However, Japan still seems more experimental. Aka, they still do games with platforming, puzzle solving, strategy, and unique off the wall premises. I've really been missing that.
We have risk takers here in the west too but I wouldn't say they are as common place. That is why certain genres in the west are either almost dead or only recently have been making a come back through the indie scene.
