Cary's Re-Return to E3

I got a press release about those NEO GEO Minis.  Seems they've already pre-sold out in Japan.

Right now I'm working on reviewing LEGO The Incredibles.

Thanks for reading!

It's Friday and I'm feeling Nostalgic.

I've never really snacked while gaming.  Don't want to get my controllers dirty.

I think my top two 80's snacks as a kid were Hi-C Ecto Cooler and Garfield Fruit Snacks.  The 80's were a great time to be a little kid.

All DKC games on SNES are amazing, even if they are a little derivative.  Graphics are great but what really impresed me was the soundtracks.  Especially in 1 and 2.  Go listen to "Aquatic Ambience" and tell me you're not amazed that was coming from a SNES!

DKC3 is a special game to me because it's one of the very first games I reviewed at The Dallas Morning News.  Also, DKC is one of the first games my brother Jeff saw when he was only a year old, and because of that, one of his very first words was actually Donkey Kong!

The DKC games on SNES are pretty hard, but I was able to beat them all, or at least reach the end, I can't remember.  But the new DKC games on the Wii and Wii U/Switch are WAY too hard!  I couldn't even get past the third world in Tropical Freeze!

I got to check out a little bit of Dragon Quest XI at E3.  The Dragon Quest/Warrior games are neat, but they never really drew me in like Final Fantasy did.  My favorite Dragon Quest game is Rocket Slime on the DS.  You should try and track that one down and play it!  Also, since you love Minecraft, have you ever tried Dragon Quest Builders?  I can't remember if you have or not.  My memory is horrible.

DKC2 starts out on a pirate ship, and Dixie Kong was introduced in it.

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana Review

Posted on 06/20/2018 at 10:18 PM | Filed Under Review

Ys 8 is a great game.  I loved it on the PS4.

I only had two main problems with it.  I think the game is a bit overbloated.  And I didn't like how you could only get the true ending by completing a number of those optional quests.  I was only like, 3 points away at the end of the game, and couldn't find a way to earn more points.

One of my brothers described Ys 8 as "Jurassic Park: The JRPG."  I told that to the folks at NIS at E3 and they said that was a fitting description.

I sitll like Ys Seven a little better, though.  Man that game had good music!

I reviewed some Kinect games back in the day.  I had to go over to friends' houses to review them because I didn't have a Kinect myself.  There was no room where I had my 360 to use it properly anyway.  Only good Kinect game I played was The Gunstringer.

METAL MONDAY, MISSING FOR A REASON!

Their stuff looked really cool at E3 but I could tell they cut some corners on some things.  You'll find out when I write about them in my E3 articles next week.
