Huh. I don't see anything too early from Panasonic on this cool wikipedia article, but that doesn't mean it didn't exist. Maybe it was from some other second tier electronics company at the time.
Side note: I didn't know there was a console made just for girls in Japan. Actually sounds like it did cool stuff!
I need to watch some of these movies. Outside of a few random Shogun shows I would watch as a kid and a brief binge on Robotech as a teen, I have avoided anime. The Miyazaki stuff always looks pretty amazing, though. I have to rely on blogs like this to let me know there is anything going on in that scene, though, so thanks!
I've only played a couple on this list, and those I haven't I also want to try. The DS is an amazing system with a huge library. I should pick some of these up now to catch up. I just need to avoid some RPGs for a while...
Super Mario Bros. has pretty amazing jumping compared to Donkey Kong, but I'm always amazed to play SMB and then Super Mario World close together. What a difference a decade can make to jumping!
I can't remember Blaster Master's jumping at all. Sounds like it's not so great if it follows the Donkey Kong philosophy!
I wonder if someone was just totally freaking out when they saw a button that said "Jump". Probably not since all of it was still fairly new, but who knows?
Yeah, the way our bodies and brains work together on that stuff is weird. Driving a manual is definitely a feel thing and trying to understand how to do it through a description is almost impossible. So glad I don't drive a manual any more.
I was a little too old for most of TGIF too, but I did watch some at the beginning. Right when TGIF was getting popular, I was starting to watch USA Up All Night with Rhonda Sheridan and Gilbert Gottfried... I can't really say I was making the better choice, but all of those Troma movies were kind of hilarious.
