I think the story in FFX-2 was garbage. I liked the ending of FFX and believe they should have left it alone.
...but X-2 was a lot of fun to play and sometimes that's all that matters. Gotta love those dress spheres :P

I wasn't even paying attention to this after I couldn't bring myself to pay $15 for the Omega DLC but you've just about convinced me this is worth the purchase. Character interaction is one of my favorite aspects in Bioware games and what you've described has me pretty excited. Hanging out social link style and partying with the Mass Effect crew sounds awesome. Just know if I buy this and end up disappointed I'm coming after you for getting my hopes up :P
I don't think there's anything wrong with classifying RPGs this way when the mechanics and storytelling are so different. I love Japanese RPGs, but I also like Western RPGs. They just feel drastically different from each other. This is one of those things that just never bothered me :/
This is the current trend that has me really worried for the game industry. Why does every game have to be a mainstream AAA title? I don't even like too many of those games anymore. Seriously, someone needs to learn how to budget games or we'll have nothing but Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed and indie games. Yes I'm exaggerating, but you get my point.
And damn it, Dead Space is a good series. I've even been enjoying DS3 for what it is. I can't believe there was a time when I was so hopeful about EA and thought they could be something great. We got two exciting new IPs from them with Dead Space and Mirror's Edge. EA acquiring Bioware didnt seem like such a bad thing with the high quality releases of Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age Origins. Then things quickly turned to shit.
Funny, those were my exact feelings about driving around in the Mako. I collected astronomy books as a kid and just loved space in general so exploring those big empty planets felt pretty awesome to me.
... Did large marge send you?
Lame joke aside, your avatar is the best and that's one of my favorite movies ever! :P
This gen actually introduced me to the Tales series, so that's a plus! I'd honestly never even heard of them last gen when there were jrpgs aplenty, but now they've become some of my favorite games.
While jrpgs are my current obsession I think I still play a pretty decent variety of types of games. Sometimes... Well either way I think you have great taste in games, Trip. And thanks for reading my blogs :)
I still get pretty annoyed when I get asked if I actually play games at my job. I work at GameStop, of course I enjoy video games! I also got a few odd looks this morning at the salon when I pulled out my Vita when waiting for my haircut. I don't care too much what people think of me or my hobbies but its a shame so many still think video games are just for kids or men living in their parents basement.
Yeah I haven't completely given up on Type-0 and I'd love that rumored Vita release to be true. I just reached a point where I stopped paying attention to any rumor or hint to its localization. Hopefully I'll be surprised by a real announcement one day.
