Yes. I can slide kick and vault over bad boys like a boss now.

I mean, honestly, its comparable to a Fallout or Metro game mechanics and story wise. If I remember correctly, Fallout 3 story had something to do with a cure for radiation contamination as the main story thread. Also the atmosphere and environment and survival theme. They're like in the same venn diagram circle of wasteland with warring faction politics or something. It's my kind of thing basically.
Yeah. I'm familiar with most of the landmarks on the world map now and have more weapon and parkour options unlocked. I guess its good that the game gives you the freedom to make it easier or harder depending on how you choose to play it. The night time is like a whole other game onto itself, so its like 2 games in one, or like Metroid Prim 2 with the dark world.
Im only a few starter missions in. Generally with any RPG type progression system, it seems the game might be more fun if I had more skills and weapons unlocked or accessible. For now, Im just getting in and running the hell out without really fighting anything, since Im weak and underpowered, but the beginning section is just dragging a bit too long. I'm chipping away at the game story missions and side quests, but I can't really use molotovs or good weapons yet. It's kind of like early Fallout.
As for the surge, I thing the environments are generic and boring. Also, the same enemies over and over. The boss fights don't seem to fit into this game either.
I liked Dead Island, ZombiU, and this adds more parkour. Night time is just a night mare. Oh my gosh! It's like my kind of game, but the early parts are really hard.
For sure. I've been playing a bunch of games lately, so I'm sticking around. I always looked forward to recommendations from you. You playing anything lately?
I'm glad you're back. I always read your takes as thoughtful and humourous, never really intolerable. I took a long absense too, and just recently started blogging here again. I haven't really been playing anything new lately is the reason. Playing catch up with the back log. I'm barely on Dying Light and The Surge. Also getting through Persona 5. There's supposed to be a big psn sale next week, like the steam summer sale, so I'm sure I'll have plenty to buy, play and blog about this year.
Welcome back!!
I didn't know Zelda 2 was bad until I got older and everyone said it was bad. That was one of those games I would get tips for in the playground, like a lot of other NES games. Deadly Premonition, Silent Hill and Resident Evil games all have considerably bad controls, also Monster Hunter, but they are still good. Weird, that can't decide if bad-but-good zone?
I feel the same about some games being too long and over staying their welcome. The Surge is actually on the shorter side of most souls-likes and there is no map, icons or real sense of direction which forces you to explore every corner looking for shortcuts. Finding shortcuts back to base, or picking up new weapons or armor is rewarding in itself, instead of following NPC quests or markers. I think for these reasons I have a higher tolerance for it, and I find the grind addicting.
Playing Skyrim recently, I enjoyed the game more when I was just wandering the landscape and finding random dungeons, but I didn't like the rewards or boss fights at all and when the map got full of quest markers I felt overwhelmed and got bored. Same thing with GTA 5. I just like my games short and to the point I guess.
Oh my gosh. I have no idea how we played all those hard ass NES games back in the day. Kid Icarus was one I never played. I just remember him as a character from the Captain N cartoon. Those medusa heads in Castlevania, or bats in Ninja Gaiden!
