Another Game Off Mount Backlog

Posted on 03/23/2015 at 12:30 PM | Filed Under Blogs

Yeah, I saw the SDSU game. That's rough, but at least you made it there. It did make me feel better when Utah beat the next team they faced by 4 points more than they beat the Jacks (our game against them was 57-50). Had we made some of our threes, that game could have been ours.

How much is Trials Fusion? I'd like to have a game I can actually compete with friends in. TheMart22 has not gotten back to me about Rayman Legends Kung Foot. lol

Gotta say, as annoying as being pushed back to the beginning by death sounds (and was for me in Zelda II), I think that might be the cure to my "everything I do feels inconsequential" problem with modern games like Last of Us and Tomb Raider that let you take off from a convenient point. Of course, I'm also impatient. Man, these developers just can't win with me. lol

I'm not saying you shouldn't get the timing down, but once you do Mega Man 2 etc. do reward you for going quickly as long as you get things timed correctly I find. Delaying my jumps or hesitating is always what kills me, whereas if I trust my timing it goes better for me. I think you can make either work and I'm not necessarily talking about barrelling through, but you can almost turn those older games into a Rayman Legends music stage in some cases if you know when to jump.

EDIT: I think a better way to put this is, I actually sometimes watch speed runs to get a handle on old platformers I'm having a hard time with. I think the reason they're able to do things so fast (when not using cheats etc.) is they nail down a particular rythm and I have a better time of things when I get my own rythm going than when I take too much time determining my next move. So I guess the game may not be intending to reward you for that, but it works in my favor more often than any kind of serious waiting/planning my next move does in those games.

I did nothing but eat and be generally sedentary all this week for spring break. Definitely want to get back on the wagon.

I dug the Lamar music though I only heard a few lyrics. And yeah, that Enslaved was way different from what I'd expect.
