People are mad at killer is dead: Here's my eloquent retort!

Posted on 07/27/2013 at 04:36 PM | Filed Under Blogs

Nice post, Ben. Agreed all day on this. I know that neither myself nor Chessa is offended by this and we're both extremely excited for Killer is Dead. It's a niche game for a niche market and the craziness of this mode is just par for the course in a Suda51 game. This eccentric stuff is exactly why I love all of his games!

I guess people think that by making a big stink about it, they'll change his art and force him to make more politically correct content. Of course, I don't see Suda51 caring much and continuing to do his own thing, but I think that we should really think twice before we call for auteurs like Suda51 to start doing anything different. If we want games to be art, we need to accept even the content that might make us uncomfortable.

Not sure if it's the greatest IPA, but I enjoyed this one quite a bit: 120 Minute IPA - Dogfish Head Brewery.Their 90 Minute and 60 Minute varieties are also quite good.

No doubt. I think I'm going to nab a copy of this whenever it first goes on sale. Sounds interesting, but I'm not sure I want to drop $8 on it.

In case you were wondering, yes, I am a cheapskate.

I totally used to smash my NES controller on the TV when I was a kid. Mega Man 3 was almost always to blame. Thank god they were big thick CRTs back then, because nowadays that would be a high price to pay for rage. I don't get that worked up about games any more, so I haven't thrown a controller since then.

I'm not totally surprised. Sakurai has always been against Smash being a competitive game. It seems like he's coming to accept that it has become one, but I don't think he's at the point of embracing it.

All that being said, I think this is a mistake on Nintendo's part. They should be putting serious resources toward making Smash online a great experience and utilizing the established FGC to fine-tune it. I think Smash is better through local multiplayer in general, but at this stage in the game you just can't ignore the market that would go online frequently with it to practice.

I did enjoy it quite a bit, but it had its fair share of issues. Honestly, if they would've just worked in some better puzzles and fine-tuned those controls this would've been a must-have 3DS title. As it stands, it's a neat little distraction if you can grab it on the cheap.

Whichever one you think is the most awesome. Cool

On a more serious not, I don't really feel like I identify much with most game characters. I feel like comic book characters are so much better in this regard. Most of them were built for nerds like us to identify with someone of greatness.

That being said - Spider-Man, all day. He's a little unsure of himself, but has good intentions and is always trying to help his fellow man. Unfortunately, it all blows up in his face pretty often and it's mostly due to circumstances outside of his realm of control. Also, he's sharp-witted and quick to spout off a good one-liner. He's been in plenty of video games, so I think he totally counts.

Since most stuff I've played over the last five or so years has been for review, I've gotten used to just playing on the default settings. I rarely start on a tougher setting, unless the game makes it clear that someone at my experience/skill level should be playing at that setting.

Before the days of reviewing games, I used to start on a harder setting to see if it was approachable and would only lower the challenge level if I was being annihilated.

quick question.

Yes, 100x over. One of the best games of the generation. Oh, it was also our 2012 GOTY.
