Great Review Matt! I haven't played the first Amnesia, would you recommend picking this up anyway?

Great list bud! And here is something I had done that hopefully will help to satisfy some of your curiousity!
Awesome article Julian! I agree with what you and others have said here - the Wii U branding has certainly left many scratching their heads. Perhaps they were going for a Nintendo --> Super Nintendo approach, but it lacks anything of the distinction considering the name and look of the console (aside from the tablet add-on) is basically the same.
It feels like they are playing so safe that they even went with an overly conservative branding of the console! It leaves me a little befuddled, considering the fact that when Nintendo gets particularly creative and ballsy with it's IP and systems (Super Mario Galaxy, the DS, the Kirby franchise, having the SNES as an add-on free console with the chips of games holding additional tech etc) they have a fantastic success rate.
Glad you enjoyed these - I was really looking forward to this installment of The Forge. There are some incredibly talented modders out there, and Bethesda is smart enough to hire a good number of these people. And I agree, I would absolutely purchase these as paid DLC packs for consoles - my wallet would hate me, but I would love it! The WereMod really blew me away with how immersive and deep it is.
Happy Halloween bud!
This is by and large my issue with "cult classics". Give something enough time passed and everyone thinks it's important just because it was extreme, although it holds no other creative merit or sense of craft. As I've said many times before, a little objectivity in the creative process goes a long way. All the shock-porn horror in the world just stands to show how good John Carpenter's Halloween, Nosferatu, and to echo some others on here, Night of The Living Dead is.
Night of The Living Dead is far and away one of my favorite horror movies (and movies in general). It works on so many levels, follows a logical train of thought, and shows that in the end (SPOILER ALERT), the asshole in the cellar was kind of right the whole time.
Great article Nick! I am currently playing through Dark Souls for the first time, and it is definitely one of my favorite games this gen. I haven't played Demon's Souls, but I am anxiously awaiting Dark Souls 2
How is the art direction in Demon's Souls? I friggin love the look and feel of the Lordran, and I wonder how Boletaria compares/constrasts to it. It is incredibly impressive how much Japanese developers completely nailed the vibe of Medieval European folklore and fears.
lol They are beautiful books! your wife sounds like an awesome girl, so congratulations to you, my man!
I'm a huge fan of the Walking Dead universe in general, and TellTale knocked it out of the park with that game, absolutely cannot wait for Season 2!
Scott Gimple is shaping up to be a great showrunner, Season 4 has been great so far. I'm not all that surprised, as Gimple has written arguably the best episodes in Seasons 2 & 3. This season has ramped up the fear and the horror, and it will only get crazier!
My favorite author of all time! My girlfriend's parents got me the Steampunk Poe book last Christmas, and it is mighty awesome! I have a 5 volume anthology of his works that was printed in 1903 that I treasure immensely.
Personally, I've always loved The Fall of The House of Usher and Masque of The Red Death, but I love the whole of his work in general. It is a shame that he didn't get the recognition he deserved while he was alive, at least not here in the states. He was a truly interesting person who's art has inspired so many!
Alien is still one of my favorite sci-fi/horror movies. It had an almost Lovecraftian sense of the unknown to it - it didn't spell everything out for you, and that lent particularly well to the scenes with the space jockey and the derelict ship. The visuals have really held up amazingly well!
