Super Mario Odyssey: Day One Opinion

Posted on 11/01/2017 at 07:02 PM | Filed Under Blogs

I had World, and while it was fun in some aspects such as the Captain Toad segments and the cat uit, it was more or less just another mario title. Odyssey is just so much better, and while I enjoyed parts of World...it's not as engaging as Odyssey.

That stuff is real neat. I like when you have a different costume set-up and it's in 8-bit. I was like no way can they have it set for me with a chef's hat in boxers, but they do! Nintendo thinks of everything!

Absolutely. I was running around the wooded kingdom and fell and ended up in the deep woods down below. I was not expecting that. There are so many moons I've yet to discover. I want to find as many as possible on my own before I have to rely on hint Toad or a game guide.

Hopefully everything works out for ya knightdriver. I've been in a similar situation in the past with college/job hurdles and being strapped for cash and seeing something and being like... welp...looks like I gotta wait.

Nintendo's Wii Shop dies January 2019 (and it's not good for digital buyers)

Posted on 10/18/2017 at 11:45 AM | Filed Under Blogs

As someone who enjoyed Wii Shop, I'll miss the content it had. Wiiware, Virtual Console, etc. If anything I'll check the Wiiware side of things. There were some great exclusives I never got a chance to download, so I may do that via the Wii U's Wii Channel and visit the shop for old times sake and venture around listening to that elevator style generic shopping mall music. As for virtual console, I pretty much rely solely on pc emulators anymore. at least that stuff is free and you can keep it. But I wonder if any of the stuff on wii shop that isn't on eshop will transfer over and at what point will the eshop go away when nintendo moves on from the wii u and switch in the future? What about those titles?  I get servers shut down, but Nintendo is still stuck in prehistoric times of transferring content to the next gen. And it's not just as simple as listing Super Mario Bros. or Urban Champion for the umpteenth time it''s when it has an effect on the great nintendo indie games. Will I still be able to play Runner 2 & 3, 10 or 15 years from now on my Wii U and Switch respectively? Thats whats great about old games and physical copies. You can go back and play them anytime if they are still in working condition. Most consoles have an amazing shelf life nowadays. I can still play original Xbox and Gamecube games 15 years later. I can still pop in my cartridge of Super Mario 64 in an N64 and it works, but that may not always be the case. At some point it will be time for me to stop gaming especially if most games start the shady practice of buying physical copies and any updates and content are off disc like with the Tony Hawk debacle.

So I Bought a Modded Xbox

I'm not even sure how Odyssey games would work given you need map overlays, etc. But there are others like the ZX Spectrum and the Virtual Boy even which is insane. As for a console with every game? That's a bit much. I don't think I'd buy it.Even if it did manage to come out, but who knows?

As for game collecting I'm stopping too. I was even looking back at getting some Gamecube games again, but I decided against that for the good of my wallet.

Yeah. In fact, I'm hoping to finsh up Chronicles of the Radia War since I'm almost at the end of that but you're right once Odyssey comes out thats where my time will go. 11,000 games can wait.

Would that even be possible? Even playing and beating one game a day would take me 30 years lol. Plus you can't really beat some games. Pac-Man puts you in a unwinnable screen. I appreciate the offer! Challenge accepted! Now I'll be sure to hit you back when I'm 60. That dollar is mine my friend! *Warning* Jon will most likely play Super Mario Odyssey and forget about this challenge lol

Initial Thoughts on Final Fantasy IX

Posted on 09/30/2017 at 10:06 PM | Filed Under Blogs

I always really enjoyed IX back in the day. I played the crap out of it. I remember hating VIII and to this day I have never finished it . I got as far as the Lunatic Pandora. So when IX came out and it was advertised as going back to basics I was ecstatic. The characters were terrific. I enjoyed the story (despite the out of nowhere ending and boss), the battle system was just wonderful, and for me it was the last mainstream Final Fantasy I played. I'd like to give 10 or 12 a shot, but I already have too much of a backlog for my nintendo related systems. .

Mario Karting, etc.

Golf Story seems like a game I'll buy if only for the bizarre concept of a golf sim/rpg mash up. Right now I'm busy with my NES Classic and the 1,000 games on it. But when Super Mario Odyssey comes out. I'm on it day one. My enthusiasm for that is through the roof.
