I've been wondering if it was just the usual rotten luck of my brother and I or something else. Searches I've done lean towards it just being a really poor app so at least it's not something on my end.

Ooh, I had such a time with those two bosses. Took me a few tries before I was able to take 'em both down. I read about a trick to prevent the second one from healing itself but it went terribly and didn't try it again.
If the options available, I always turn auto-attack off. I have the worst AI luck with it on and don't like taking any more chances than I have to.
Saw a display for it when I went out to look for a copy of Etrian Mystery Dungeon. Spent over 200 hours with the Wii version, and if I ever get a New 3DS I'll happily spend another 200.
My brother got the game just the other day. He's enjoying it so far, I should probably pick up a copy soon.
