Today is 911 never forget

Posted on 09/11/2014 at 02:05 PM | Filed Under Blogs

I was pretty obvlivious, honestly.

I found out in school (would have been 5th or 6th grade; I was 11 for sure) and thought it was a tornado the way everyone was acting. I didn't know much of anything about the Twin Towers before then. I even saw them referenced in a Simpsons joke in an episode where Homer was trying to find a bathroom in one of them, but thought those were just two made up buildings for the show's version of NY.

I still remember the original movie previews for the first Sam Raimi Spider-Man having the web between those two towers and learning later on that they had to get rid of those cause of the incident. People did not want to see those two buildings referenced in any way for a good long while. Impactful stuff.

Cary's Pretend Birthday Party and Quiz!

Posted on 09/11/2014 at 01:58 PM | Filed Under Blogs

1. Toad and Luigi I knew, the others were guesses, so that makes sense.

2. I kinda threw that in there as a joke. lol I remember Vectorman having a huge Lunchables campaign, but I didn't play it until I was an adult and couldn't get into it.

3. His long hair makes him look kinda girly and you like female fighter characters? Also thrown in as kind of a joke cause I didn't know a third one for you. Whatever, I liked Vega. He was my main as a kid.

5. I meant Reptile. Ooops.

6. Oh, I definitely played King of Fighters at the arcade as a kid, but I couldn't tell you any character names. I probably played plenty of SNK games, but I was never really paying attention to brands when I played arcade games.

7. I was thinking of Sophita or Cassandra probably. I'd guess you also like Taki and Xinghau? In my defense, I had very little sleep when I wrote this.Iit was very early in the morning and I'd been playing Batman Arkham Origins all night because it finally wanted to work for more than five minutes. Also, someone did make Xena the Warrior Princess in Soul Calibur.

8. I got the game right though, didn't I?

9. I was referring to your constant Popeye references.

10. I think you told me before and it was 200-something.

I didn't know if you liked mints. I'm not saying anything about your breath, I just like the flavor of say, Andes mints and thought maybe you did too and I associate mints with the color green, so ...

Yeah, I saw your comment and it made me think of it as well.

Looks cool. I can never keep track of which shmup is which, but since Cary pointed out the pre-rendered stuff, I am seeing some objects that remind me of SNES Star Fox.

My New Solid State Hybrid Drive! <3

I've been wanting to build my own PC but cost and frustration other people put into keep me hesitant. Honestly, it's more the cost, cause without that I love a good challenge, but I do like having a rainy day fund and my laptop is all I really need right now.

When you said Hybrid drive I thought you meant you bought an eco-friendly car. lol

Oh yeah, I think I only didn't finish cause I was tired. It definitely wasn't boredom. It might be one of those movies where I think I missed parts of it, then I watch it and I'm like "no, I remember all of that. Don't know what I thought was missing. Huh." It happens to me sometimes

I figured it was work-related. Sorry things were such a hassle.

We're actually short-staffed at my job as well. Which should have actually made my first two weeks easier, but with the manager under me being a last-minute hire and not knowing some of the ropes any better than the DJs for news/sports (not that I had it 100% down since that was always the other guy's job), it somehow feels like I've been doing more training than when we had 15 DJs as opposed to 6.

I hope things have slowed down for you so you can relax a bit.

First Class Day

I asked my friend who's now getting his kinesiology doctorate if I eat only one meal a day, what should it be? I was surprised at first that he said dinner, but it makes sense. If you only eat breakfast, then you get tired later on in the day, while if you only eat dinner your body will still be breaking stuff down and giving you energy the next day until dinner.

He wasn't saying not to eat breakfast, but he definitely seemed to think it wasn't the be-all-end-all we hype it up to be. It's really more about healthily snacking throughout the day. Which I also didn't do while on his diet and exercise plan and still saw results, so ... I guess at my age just hitting the right numbers for your food nutrients and doing the exercises is all that really matters. Not so much what time of day you eat.

3 Limited 3DS XLs coming Westward

I'd like them all except I prefer the designs to be horizontal as opposed to vertical so that they match how I'd usually look at the 3DS, plus I don't know much about Persona Q, so for me it's between NES and Super Smash Bros.

NES is really tempting for nostalgia and simple design's sake and the box that resembles an NES would be my choice of packaging, but overall I'd have to go with Super Smash Bros. since I find that solid-red color scheme more attractive.
