DeathSpank Sequel Announced and Dated

Posted on 08/25/2010 at 08:03 AM | Filed Under News

Glancing over the GameSpot article, I noticed it was pointed out that Hothead was unable to receive feedback on the first title before the second was released. To me, it seems Hothead either took an unnecessary risk or had a lot of confidence in the DeathSpank IP. Anyone play the first title yet?

Castle Crashers for PSN Dated in North America

That seems a tad expensive to me. I just picked up Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game, also a beat-em-up title. If I make my way through that, I'll consider Castle Crashers, and perhaps we'll see a review of both titles.

That hurts. I'm back to working on my backlog again! Hooray!

Beetle Adventure Racing!

Posted on 08/12/2010 at 09:29 PM | Filed Under Feature

I remember Beetle Adventure Racing being the cover feature of a Nintendo Power that talked fairly in-depth about the original Super Smash Bros. 64. I remember looking at the article, reading a bit about it, and thinking it looked fun, but I was already happy with Cruis'n USA and Cruis'n World, so I didn't need another N64 racer.

Castlevania: Harmony of Despair Review

Posted on 08/06/2010 at 05:45 PM | Filed Under Review

At E3, the game felt cheap. Cobbled together, almost. There, players were given nine or so minutes to complete the castle, so I tried to rush through, and the result was, I died. Regardless, the point was, it didn't convey the same experience I had when I played the DS Castlevania titles, an obvious influence. Turns out zooming out to view the castle didn't work well, either, as I had trouble viewing pathways, doors, and exits.

Also, what Stanton neglects to mention? Characters, with little exception, look terrible. Take a DS sprite and blow it up to 720p. The end result? Very pixelated characters in the middle of a sharply drawn environment. The contrast does not work well. Alucard seemed to look all right, though.

Kathrine's E3 Impressions

To be honest, from the time spent with Steel Diver on the floor, it was a terrible, terrible game to demo for only a couple of minutes.

By the time the demo was finished, you'd finally pick up a bit of nuance on how to move the submarine. Given that there were more 3DS Demos than time to view the demos, I didn't give it an extra turn, and instead opted to check out other things. I couldn't tell you if I thought Steel Diver would be a good game or a terrible game if I tried, that, I'm sure.

Blame me on how late Kathrine's impressions went up. I told her I'd be writing some, and she said she'd want hers to go up after mine. I wrote halfway through my impressions, realized they were a bit long-winded, and I moved on for a little bit, so I could collect my thoughts elsewhere. Mine will come up at some point in time, but I haven't revisited them quite yet.

Naughty Bear Review

I don't like the design of the bears in Naughty Bear. They should have seemed cute, cuddly, and innocent, but instead, everything looks mean.

However, I've been looking for a game that locks up my console... Hmm, could Naughty Bear be the game for me?!

NBA Jam for PS3 and Xbox 360 Revealed

Posted on 08/03/2010 at 06:20 PM | Filed Under News

From various sentiments I've seen, people are going to feel ripped off in both cases. No online play for the Wii, an incomplete single-player on the other consoles. If I do get any NBA game this year, it'll be the Wii version of NBA Jam, because I'm fine without online play. A lot of people aren't though.

Don't read that into saying I plan to purchase the title, though.

This reads a lot like my E3 preview for the game, disappointingly.
