At E3, the game felt cheap. Cobbled together, almost. There, players were given nine or so minutes to complete the castle, so I tried to rush through, and the result was, I died. Regardless, the point was, it didn't convey the same experience I had when I played the DS Castlevania titles, an obvious influence. Turns out zooming out to view the castle didn't work well, either, as I had trouble viewing pathways, doors, and exits.
Also, what Stanton neglects to mention? Characters, with little exception, look terrible. Take a DS sprite and blow it up to 720p. The end result? Very pixelated characters in the middle of a sharply drawn environment. The contrast does not work well. Alucard seemed to look all right, though.
