New Jak & Daxter Shelved in Favor of The Last of Us

Ahead of beginning work on the upcoming survival game, Naughty Dog strongly considered bringing back Jak & Daxter.

Naughty Dog, as we all now know, has recently divided its studio into two distinct teams, each working on their own individual titles. The split and subsequent augmentation was done to accommodate future growth for the Uncharted developer. The first game taken on by this new team is The Last of Us, which was officially unveiled at last year's VGAs. Ahead of making the decision to start work on this new title, Naughty Dog told Game Informer that they strongly considered bringing back the fan-favorite Jak & Daxter series.

Sakura Samurai: Art of the Sword Review

If you're browsing the eShop, you should probably avoid games with samurai in them.

Sakura Samurai: Art of the Sword is the latest game to take use of Japan's rich lore. Despite the setting, the game's tale is standard Nintendo fare - players are on a quest to rescue a kidnapped princess. As a young samurai, your quest is split into a number of levels that consist of nothing more than a variety of encounters with a handful of enemy types. The characters and setting imbue a definite degree of charm and personality, but it's squandered by the shallow, repetitive, and boring gameplay.

More Street Fighter x Tekken Characters Leaked

Two characters are confirmed alongside two new leaks.

It seems that characters for Capcom's upcoming fighter are leaking on a fairly regular basis. The recent ESRB rating points to a reveal of Alisa and Lei, while both M. Bison and Xiaoyu were leaked by some telling images on the Xbox Live Marketplace. The most recent leak comes courtesy of a Taiwanese product listing for their collector's edition of the game. The listing confirms both Xiaoyu and M. Bison, but reveals both Akuma and Ogre. Jin is also depicted, but was revealed in trailers released by Capcom in the past.

Despite the change in account branding, the PlayStation Network brand will remain intact.

Double Fine Happy Action Theater Review

I got to lay waste to a city, break dance, take risqué pictures with myself, and star in my own '70s style dance video.

I'll be honest; Double Fine Happy Action Theater had me laughing out loud on a fairly frequent basis. As I made my way through the game's default Director Mode, I experienced 18 mini-game toys that were all completely unique in their construction. Because you can't win or lose and the game gives you no directions on how to play, each mini-game is all about experimentation and just having fun. With such a low barrier of entry and gameplay that accommodates up to six simultaneous players, it's almost impossible not to have a blast with Happy Action Theater.

Nintendo Reveals New Club Nintendo Rewards

Dr. Mario, Kirby, and Majora's Mask have been swapped out of the rotation.

Today, Nintendo made available two new Club Nintendo awards, each clocking in at 150 coins. Both Art Academy: First Semester and Mario Party 2 are now available for redemption until the end of the month, February 29. The two titles supplant last month's four choices, which included The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Dr. Mario Online Rx, Dr. Mario Express, and Kirby's Dream Land.

Newton vs. The Horde Review

Occasionally humorous dialog can't prop up this mundane venture.

Physics simulations have always made for fun playgrounds; whether you're just tossing objects into stacks of blocks or using the elasticity effect to rocket an object across the screen, it's mindless destructive fun. Logic would dictate that tossing in a few game objectives would make for an instantly enjoyable game, but with Newton vs. The Horde the resulting product is the exact opposite.

SSX to Feature Online Pass

Like Sony, EA appears to be adopting the practice for any and all games.

After word was released that Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning would include day one DLC locked via an online pass, SSX was also outed to feature the same in Quick Look done over at Giant Bomb. While not officially announced by EA, displayed prominently at the bottom of the screen is a reference to input or purchase the online pass.

Stonekeep: Bones of the Ancestors Review

A brand new first person dungeon crawler – I know, I was surprised too.

Going into Stonekeep, I was fully aware it was a budget priced WiiWare release, but still, I was excited. It’s not very often you see a company willing to revive an extremely old and niche series, much less one that’s a first person RPG dungeon crawler. While a big deal back on the PC two decades ago, these days you just don’t see many of these types of RPGs. But alas, Stonekeep quickly and effectively dashed my excitement after just a few short minutes.
