PB & Jason Issue 78: PB & Jason Draws Near

Jason casts the spell of TalkMore!

I haven't been interested in this week's latest gaming news, nor have I picked up any new titles between this week and last week. So what do I do? Spend the week to talk about Dragon Quest titles and RPGs in general! This week's PB & Jason is filled to the brim about details of what I enjoy in RPGs, my experience with Dragon Quest games, and hypes up a title I'm sure to play over the upcoming week: Dragon Quest VIII, which I just received today. There's a lengthy discussion about a two year-old article about older RPGs and the differences between these games and newer ones, with some criticism for the new peppered along the way in this week's best ever PB & Jason issue. Vita sales and Pokémon sequels are featured in PB & Jason's 77th issue!

How many sevens does it take to screw in a lightbulb? Seven! Don't worry. That's the only seven-related joke in PB & Jason 77. In fact, seven isn't really a factor in this week's PB & Jason at all! Instead, you get forty-eight minutes of piping hot ideas about the current future of Pokémon, the 3DS vs. PlayStation Vita sales debate, and quick impressions of one of the newest 3DS eShop games, Dillon's Rolling Western. Rhythm Heaven Fever Review

When I die, I want to go to Rhythm Heaven.

If asked to describe Rhythm Heaven Fever in one short phrase, I'd say it's “a horse of a different color!” Like Rhythm Heaven and the WarioWare games before, Rhythm Heaven Fever does an excellent job of painting itself as a game different from virtually any other. It's more unique, more quirky, and more inspired than a lot of what I've seen in the past. For a title budgeted for release at $30, there's certainly plenty of content to keep the original feeling going for some time.

PB & Jason Issue 75: From Army Corps of Hell to Wipeout 2048

Jason gives a rundown on all 25 of the Vita Launch titles.

What counts as a PlayStation Vita launch title? Is it any game that released today or in the past week with the Vita First Edition Bundle? What about those games coming next week, with the original, "true" Vita launch? And how about those games available for download? Have no fear! This week's best ever PB & Jason covers all three categories, in vein of previous launch specials, like with the PlayStation Move and the Xbox Kinect. Rise of the Martian Bear Review

What has a bear, a beard, two-legged mechs, and flies? Iron Brigade: Rise of the Martian Bear.

Last year, I praised and criticized Double Fine's Trenched before it received a new name. My verdict? It played and worked well, but didn't offer enough variety and versatility to last as long as a proper tower defense game should. Fortunately, Rise of the Martian Bear provides a lot of content, weapons, and towers that resolve many of the issues the original Iron Brigade faced.

The Simpsons Arcade Game Review

Aye Carumba!

Konami brought many great, well-known beat-'em-ups to the arcades in the late 80's and early 90's, and all of them but one have made a transition to home consoles. Yes, The Simpsons Arcade Game is the last and perhaps best classic Konami beat-'em-up to be brought back, and for those who've played all the other classic Konami titles to death, there's enough variance and originality here to keep players hooked.

PB & Jason Issue 72: Gamenomics

PIPA, SOPA, and saving moolah headline PB & Jason this time around.

Have you ever been on YouTube to see a message that a video has been removed to protect someone's intellectual property or prevent copyright prevention? Yes? Well, have you ever seen that message when trying to view a promotional trailer released specifically to be placed on YouTube by various members of the media? Doesn't that sound a little mind-numbing? Click through to find a link to hear more about this particular issue, and how I reflect it to the SOPA & PIPA bills currently being talked about in the US Congress. Oh, but there's a lot more to PB & Jason than just those bills; click through to see the rest!
