I used to try and keep the various components of my life separate – gaming with the gamers, music with the folkies, park stuff separate but equal, etc. I have come to realize that I am unable to keep these things compartmentalized. Bits of all of them had a tendency to bleed over into the other areas and there wasn't anything I could do about it. I came to realize that all of these things are the threads that make up the tapestry of who I am. Hopefully, people from all the circles of friends I belong to will read this and understand what I'm trying to say, because it's all tied together and I can't unknot any of it without the whole thing unraveling.

Where I talk about just about everything under the sun except for gaming 
. I think it's the Puritan guilt complex - I should be looking for a job for the winter, so I feel guilty about gaming. I do many other things to procrastinate, so it really shouldn't matter. Anyway...

So thanks to homelessrook, I've been watching horror movies lately. Jason has been told beforehand that any middle-of-the-night phone calls from me because I'm scared are to be blamed on Larry, lol.

It's been a crazy couple of weeks for me since work ended for the winter. Just recovering from the FSGW (Folk Society of Greater Washington) Getaway takes about a week. It's less a folk festival and more of a retreat. We have workshops during the day that we can attend (or blow off and sing or jam), mini-concerts ongoing throughout the day, evening concerts Sat and Sun nights (think talent show, but with real talent) that people can sign up for, and all-night sessions in various buildings and around a campfire. The food is terrible, the bunks uncomfortable, and alcohol is forbidden, yet we manage to have a wonderful time anyway.

I know I'm in the minority with my excitement for the 2DS. I don't care. I asked about must have games on the 1UP facebook page and ended up with people trying to convince me to buy a 3DS XL instead. I don't want a 3DS XL. Yes, it does have a bigger screen. But it costs more and I can't see 3D effects due to vision issues, so I really don't want to spend the money on something I can't use. Not to mention being unemployed at the moment until i pick up something to see me through the winter. I was all set to go buy a 2DS on Sunday, but didn't make it to Game Stop before they closed. Plans were made to go yesterday, but good sense won the day: I'm not working, should I really be spending $100+ (I have a gift card) on something that I really don't need? The answer was a resounding "no". My other temptation is the $20 off a new PSP Game Stop is having on their website for Power Up Plus members. I had it in my cart briefly before my adult half reined me in.

I like point-and-click adventure games. They aren't all created equal, though. When done right, they're some of my favorite games. When they aren't, well, let's just say that games that are that broken should be taken out and shot behind the barn before they're inflicted on an unwitting populace. Good point-and-clicks have interesting stories, reasonably easy to find areas, items, and clues, and puzzles that should be somewhat logical and have something to do with the story. they don't have to be long games, just fun. Too bad so many of them aren't fun. Oh, well.

Sorry I haven't been commenting much in the past two weeks. Been kinda busy in the real world. Bought my first expensive piece of art at my friend Kat's art gallery, will post pics when it's delivered. That was a day trip, she lives up the coast aways. Spent last Sunday at the Portsmouth Maritime Folk Festival, Monday with my friend Claire from California, yesterday with Andrew and Carole from Wales, doing chores and packing for my trip to Maryland tomorrow, and going to a music party at my friend Mary's tonight with Claire, Andrew, Carole, Terry from London, and a bunch of the "local" folkies. Next week I shall sleep, lol.

Since my last update, I've spent a lot of time on the road, five hundred miles added to my odometer since Friday. One baby shower and a wedding later, I'm exhausted and looking forward to a day of vegging out on the couch. Which I can do now that Bill the Contractor has finished in my bathroom. I should have taken before and after photos, but I didn't. It's very nice now, and I'm glad it's done.
