First time I've encountered something like that, honestly.

I don't understand what's the big deal about Waluigi.  He was only created so Wario would have a partner in doubles tennis matches.

I reviewed Overcooked 2.  It's fun, but really best as a multiplayer title.

One good thing about Psychonauts 2 is that if you go to the subscreen, it'll tell you what your next goal should be, so try that if you haven't already.

So Undertale's a pretty short game then?  How long does it take to beat?

By the way, I got all my Hallmark Christmas ornaments last night.  I'll write a blog about them after Thanksgiving at GamerDad.com.  There were a couple I didn't get, like a Mortal Kombat ornament and one of the Enderman from Minecraft.

Psychonauts came out in 2005 so that may be why the graphics look rough, too.

Yeah I said in my podcast that I liked the PSP and Vita screens more than the Switch's.  Just so much clearer and brighter.  But my regular old Switch is still working fine, so I'm not going to replace it just yet.

Episode 209: Nerd Saturday Morning

Posted on 10/12/2021 at 08:16 AM | Filed Under Feature

Hey I listened to your podcast.  Since I have a podcast now and want people to listen to mine, I try to be good and listen to others' podcasts as well.

I can't believe that we have to explain Saturday morning cartoons to kids now!  I feel so old!  They really were very important back then since we didn't have 24 hour cartoon networks and streaming services and YouTube and such.  It felt like "our time."

Also I must be a bit older than you all because I did watch the Pac-Man cartoon on Saturday mornings and was always really excited for it, as I've always been a big Pac-Man fan.  The cartoon itself wasn't very good, but Hanna-Barbera didn't have much to go with and at least the voice work was good.

I do remember the C.O.P.S. cartoon, but mostly the end credits because for a while it came on before something else I wanted to watch.  "Fightin' Crime in a Future Time!"

To clarify on the Nintendo Cereal System, it did have two bags of cereal, one for Mario and one for Zelda.  Both were essentially similar to Froot Loops, but the Mario side was 'citrus' with yellow, orange, and green colors, and the Zelda side was 'berry' with red, purple, and blue colors.  They were supposed to be shaped like characters and items from the respective series, but to me they looked more like rainbow cat turds.  It wasn't a very good cereal but I ate it anyway as a kid because we were all under Nintendo's thumb back then.

I think that WarioWare would make a good Saturday morning cartoon.  I even wrote about it in my most recent blog, so check that out.  I do agree with you on Charles Martinet.  No disrespect to the man, but I would not want to watch a whole movie with that voice.  "I just-a got-a kicked in the nuts!"  My Mario will always be Capt. Lou Albano. Personally if they wanted to make a movie with Mario characters, I think Luigi's Mansion would've been a better pick.

Scariest video game characters?  Probably SiniStar.  First time I saw it in an arcade as a kid, and it bellowed "BEWARE, I LIVE!  RAWWWRRR!" I ran and hid behind my parents.  After that I would purposely walk as far away as I could from that machine.  Also, the Medusa statues in Adventures of Lolo games would turn you to stone if you passed their line of sight, and that SHOOM sound they made when they did that would make me jump every, single, time.  And one time I had a scary dream where the Great Fairy from Ocarina of Time was chasing after me.  OK so I don't play very many scary games.

Well there's still not much to a WarioWare game.  I just like the series so much that when I talk about it extensively, it sounds like there's more lore behind it than what there probably really is.  You should try and play one when you get a chance, though.  They're great.

Yeah they have the OLED version out now.  I won't get it as long as my old Switch works fine.  Plus I have low def eyes, so I probably wouldn't be able to notice much anyway.
