Hackers Attack Back - System Update 4.2

Posted on 09/30/2009 at 03:26 PM | Filed Under News

That said, Nick, I think it's a poor move on Nintendo's part here. Apparently, there was an update made to "Boot2," something that helps start up the console. From what little I've read, updating it isn't always successful... causing your console to brick!

I'm not certain of the validity of the above assertion, but the truth is, Nintendo states that the update is to increase console performance, entirely on the back-end. However, performance isn't increased at all. The update was entirely to prohibit homebrew. That's just not nice. They should know, anyways, that once someone finds their way into your console, via things like homebrew, it's tough to permanently keep 'em out, and takes a lot more than a simple firmware update.

Super Street Fighter IV Confirmed

Apparently, the first had twenty-five characters. With the eight new ones, it goes up to thirty-three. Not a bad number at all.

I don't mind this type of game upgrade, as long as it's cheaper and the engine fixes justify it. To be honest, if I heard of a Super Smash Bros. Brawl DX, with some balance added in, as well as a few new characters, I'd definitely take it.

My roommate planned to get SFIV when he gets his PS3. I wonder if he'll just stick it out for this iteration of the game, instead?

Katamari Forever Review

I <3 Katamari.

Once my roommate gets a PS3, this will be the game I pick up.

Also, I love the way the Katamari controls, even the "getting stuck" and issues turning. It's probably exactly what you say, as a Katamari fan, I've learned to deal with it.

Nobody else wants more Aerosmith? They missed about half of the good songs in their own game!

Wii Sports Resort Sells More Than 1.25 Million in U.S.

I'd like to see how many the game sells at Christmas. I know it will, which is odd, seeing as it's a clear "Summer" release.

Watchmen Coming to LittleBigPlanet

In one sense, I don't see the appeal of all the LittleBigPlanet sackboy costumes. On the other hand, I'll admit I've played Smash Bros. Brawl with texture hacks, and it's fun and funny, so I could very well be a hypocrite here.

New Ni No Kuni Media and Details

It should be noted that the ROID version, or at least part of it, bears a very striking resemblance to Earthbound, with characters and the overworld a clear homage. The question is whether or not it's just a world you visit or if it's the entire game.

This game is one I hope makes it to North America, I can definitely say that.

Conquer Action Mode in Scribblenauts with Only Two Objects

Posted on 09/28/2009 at 11:15 AM | Filed Under News

I missed where the fun was in Scribblenauts, exactly. I had this same problem, not in the sense that the game was too easy to beat, but that the puzzle were either too simplistic or needed something too specific. As much as I could stand to play, I found the most fun way was to try to complete each stage by not using items at all, or, at most, use one item when necessary. I abhor the stages that require you to create several items and give them to people/things, because of this.

Also, there's the absolute ton of glitches, bugs, and control issues. Those were a bit of a deterrent, too.

Natal Beautiful Katamari in Motion

Posted on 09/26/2009 at 04:48 PM | Filed Under News

I'm a huge Katamari buff, I loved the first two, but haven't had a console for the others. I can say I'd definitely buy this if I had a 360, but I'm not quite sure if the motion controls here suit me. I will say, though, I'll keep my eyes open to see what becomes of this, because I could vastly be underestimating how it works.

Still, I'd say Microsoft needs to start showing us real games built from the ground up with Natal. This is another game with shoe-horned motion controls, and I'd like to see something more innovative.

Old 360 Titles Will Not Work With Project Natal

That's a surprise, in some ways. I was under the impression that at least with the Wii, all those GameCube games, like Metroid Prime 2, could be ported over easily enough.

What could be so complicated that the code couldn't be ported simply enough?
