I know. I actually brought that controversy up quite a bit in a social media class I taught around the time the movie came out. There was some hashtag campaign they tried on Twitter that backfired.
I do like that movie though, even if it was critically panned.

I usually pass on life sims, but AC might just be what gets me into them, I've said for years now. I find the seasonal/holiday goings on particularly appealing.
