Xevious is hard, but I always liked it. Probably because it was one of the first games to combine shooting and bombing. It gave you the idea you were flying high above the ground even though everything looked 2D.

Somehow I don't see Nintendo ditching their console. They want to control their first party IPs on their own hardware and make them exclusive to it. People will always want a Mario or Zelda or Metroid game and they're only going to get it on Nintendo devices. They make most of their money off these IPs. They don't need to diversify like MS and Sony because they have their core franchises that are such huge cash cows for them. They may seem about to become irrelevant, but those key franchises will keep them afloat every time... if Mario and Zelda become irrelevant, I don't want to be a gamer anymore.
There's always one more. I think I have all that I want for a system and then another one pops up. It never ends.
I love DK JR. I wish there was an arcade perfect port of it out there. I guess there's probably a ROM online. Someday i'm going to put together a MAME collection and play all that stuff on an iCade for iPad. That would be cool.
Wizardry comes up in my next blog on this subject. I forget exactly when I played it but it was definitely while I was in High School '82-'86. It marked my first involvement with computers, aside from briefly playing Zork sometime earlier.
Berzerk was hard. Plus they put that smiley face guy in there just to kill you in case you got too far in the game. Nasty.
Class of Heroes looks really cool. I'd like to have those games. On to backloggery to add them to my wishlist.
That's why she's funny to have as a Valentine. Trouble will ensue.
My buddy and I played co-op starting with the beach landing on Silent Cartographer and all the way through Assault on the Control Room every darn weekend for the three years Halo was out before Halo 2. Every inch of those levels are etched in my brain.
