Blog a Day- Day 24- Games as Movies & Vice Versa

Posted on 02/25/2014 at 10:44 AM | Filed Under Blogs

If you want good examples of movie properties having good video game adaptations, I recommend to look this.

As for movies, I actually thought the Prince of Persia adaptation was decent and atleast had elements from the game that are recognisable like some of the combat and parkour movement.

Much like I said in a blog before, I'm not a big fan of caustic criticism. There's nothing bad of thinking you didn't like something and the world wouldn't be what it is without negativity, but when you have people that criticise, complain and just want to be negative just for the sake of it or they think that it's the true "objective" opinion, I just want to groan. Pretty much the reason why I try to avoid much of it to not spoil myself a game, movie or whatever. No matter if they tell me that Bioshock Infinite is overrated, that Arkham City is inferior to Asylum or Sonic Adventure is dated, i'm gonna play the game no mather what and make my own opinions.

That said, I do like caustic critism played for laughs. After all, AVGN, The Nostalgia Critic, Zero Punctuation and many more are some of my favorite sources of entertainment and they do that.

Yep, I owned this one on the GBA. I remember having a lot of fun, but I can't remember the levels very well.

BaD Ep 24: Captain N's Favorite 3D Sonic games

Posted on 02/25/2014 at 08:15 AM | Filed Under Blogs

My first exposure to 3D Sonic was Heroes (my first Xbox game as well). I loved that game at that time and much later when I beat it, but playing the game again last year, it hasn't aged well AT ALL.

The second 3D game was Shadow the Hedgehog and I did also liked it when I was young, but I haven't played it in a while, so i'm not sure if will age well or it'll tank like Heroes.

Then came to the Wii Sonic & The Secret Rings..... and I hated it. So far, the worst Sonic I had played (keep in mind I haven't played Sonic 06). Then Sonic Unleashed on the Wii and though the werehog sections were average and bland, the Sonic sections were awesome and I kept thinking "They did it! They translated the speed of Sonic in 3D!".

The good thing is that SEGA knew the day sections of Unleashed were the best thing, so what did they do? Make Sonic Colors, my favorite 3D Sonic game. I love it.

Haven't played the two Adventure games, Generations and Lost World, but I hope to do it soon. I'll see if I can get Sonic & The Black Knights cheap and as for Sonic 06.... maybe if it's 1 dollar, but I probably won't get it. I've seen a Let's Play of it and even if I always tell to myself to play something before making conclusions, the game does look like crap.

Not really. He didn't include Heroes, Shadow the Hedgehog and the other two Wii Sonic games that aren't Colors.

I'm right now in that hospital part of Bioshock and so far i'm very much liking the game. I'm not a frequent FPS player, so I don't have any problem with the shooting so far but I definitly love the plasmid more.

Six Songs of Your Life

Posted on 02/24/2014 at 11:14 AM | Filed Under Blogs

Of the top of my head:

Gnarls Barkley-Crazy: I always loved this song ever since i've heard it for the first time in 2007, even in the time when I was a snobish Metalhead. There's just something mystic and soulfull about it and the music video is very cool.

Lynyrd Skynyrd-Freebird: It's simply one of my favorite epic songs and it's been a good choice to use while traveling.

Modest Mouse-Float On: My main pic when it comes to songs that make you happy. It's a typical choice, but dammit, it's typical for that good reason. It also fits my mood of no matter what happens and even if a situation doesn't look good, we need to continue and never worry too much and do the best we can.

Red Hot Chili Peppers-Snow (Hey Oh): May or may not be my favorite RHCP song, but either way, I like its melacholic tone and lyrics and it's also a song that for some reason lifts my mood.

Pixies-Where is my Mind: I always asociate this song for not only getting into Pixies, but also the source where I got into Pixies; Fight Club, my favorite film of all time.

The Count of Tuscany-Dream Theater: I had only heard this song two times, but they were enough to make me fall in love with Dream Theater and probably also a reason why I love songs with epic feel.

That's all I can think right now. It's not official, as I have some other songs that I feel are also important, this doesn't cover a lifetime and they aren't exactly my definite songs of all time. Still, great choices to me.

Blog 2/23/14: 1st Blog of 2014, TitanFall Beta, etc...

I love Rayman Origins and the more I thought about it, it's now among my favorite 2D Plataformers.

I think you're the first one in this site that didn't like the Beta of Titanfall. I still will get the game and atleast it will be an incentive to install Origin.
