"A Modest Gaming Proposal"

Posted on 02/28/2013 at 11:39 PM | Filed Under Blogs

Yeah, I'm the same way. I was more commenting on how some people in the public reacted it its exclusion rather than the fact that it was there in the first place. I would love to be able to play a game that had mature content in it that afterward allowed you to see it from a different perspective or come away with a certain message. However, I'm not sure the inclusion of that scene by Crystal Dynamics initially was to do that. I think they were trying to sell the fact that Lara is so attractive that this jungle bandit can't keep his hands off of her.

Why I <3 MGS

I recently picked up the HD collection and have begun playing through MGS 2, Raiden is a tad annoying but the game is top notch. Can't wait to work through and review the series!

I can't wait to read future iterations of this. I love looking at the fiscal side of the industry as well as the creative side. Both are fascinating!

Four Things Holding Gaming Back

As far as game maturity goes, I love mature games that get me caught up in the story and think about things after (MGS, Mass Effect, The Witcher) but then I'm surprised after playing those game how much fun I have just being immature and zany in games like Brutal Legend. I think there is a time and a place for both and our industry gets too caught up sometimes in trying to be ultra serious, realistic, and gritty and forget that it's a game!

Well, I started with megaman X so that one is my favorite, I really liked the NT series because it was on the go and I could play with my friends. But the X series was the coolest though hardest for sure.

Next Gen: So Far, So Boring

I can definitely see where you are coming from. In some of my upcoming posts I am going to be working through a backlog of games I wanted to play but never got around this gen. Some of these were HD collections of older games and I am finding that these titles - while older, get me so much more excited and tense while playing than most recent games that I have been playing. I was really excited to see the Playstation 4 being announced but after watching the conference - I must admit I was most excited by the opening montage video with Monster House playing in the background. Everything else were things I had seen before or have little that quipes my interest.

@sneenlantern Yeah, PDZ wasn't great but I remember when I got my 360 how excited I was to play that game and months before I got my new console -drooling over screenshots of Elder Scrolls Oblivion and Call of Duty 2. I do agree however that there is plenty of time left to wow me before the console is even launched - seeing as this was just the announcement and not E3 - and I think it is safe to say that I am still pretty excited about this generation.
