Well I believe the problem with the Wii U version is that it's based off it's 3DS counterpart and not the Wii version. Even though both have the same name, the 3DS development was done seperately from the Wii version. In fact the Wii version was finished before the 3DS version. I don't want to knock the Wii U/3DS version, but the Wii version is the preferred version.
Yeah the price is a little high right now. I'm not sure if any prints still have the Wii version with it as it was only available in the first print runs. It's worth a shot to wait if you can't get the wii version with it as it is a somewhat short game with the replayability being in getting better times and scores.

It's interesting how similar our ideas are. I put some of the same aspects in my top 5 Mario Maker ideas. Although I thought you could put multiple checkpoints with the newest update I thought...I haven't really fiddled around with it though.
As for a real life area, I always wanted to go to Japan. Whether it's the futuristic dystopian versions or more realistic in terms of Yakuza or Shen Mue. As for strictly fantasy well I'd say pokemon would be cool.
There are so many, but I'd like to bring back Bomber Man and Klonoa. Other than that perhaps I would love to bring back Mega Man (He might as well be dead the way Capcom is) and Viewtiful Joe.
I got hooked on Tales since Symphonia, practically buying any Tales game that came stateside except for Vesperia which I didn't have a 360 to play it. I love the series!
I have the first chibi-robo on GC (bought for $20) and bought the new play control wii remake from Japan (for $25)...It's tough finding a cheap copy. Ebay has some crazy prices for the GC version for like $100!! The Japan only is equally as bad. I'm glad I bought my copies back when there wasn't such a high demand!
I would say in terms of a traditional experience I would say Chrono Trigger for SNES. My mom bought it for me because I read something in Nintendo Power about it and really wanted to be a frog. So Christmas time came around and I started playing. I never got real far. I was 7 at the time so I got lost by the time I was first brought to prehistoric dinosaur times, but I loved every minute. I remember spending a lot of time just playing the carnival and bike racing games.
