Yooka Failing

Persona 5's system could still work for you. They set up commands in a way that's much quicker and streamlined than picking from a menu, instead each action is mapped to a different button. Not saying it will, but one of the better RPG options for someone who isn't a fan of the genre IMO.

I'm enjoying YL alright, but still only at the second world and will need to put it on hold once Crash gets here. I liked Life is Strange, but once you get to the party in episode 4, it started to go downhill. Max let Chloe do stupid things, the villain's motivation didn't work for me, and I thought one of the two endings was downright evil. Though the end's solution was a neat callback to episode 1. Also the more I think about Chloe the more I hate her. Yeah, she went through some bad shit, but that doesn't excuse a lot of the crap she does, especially with Max's call from Katie.

I finally finished The Last of Us

I actually loved that they didn't give you a choice at the end. Yeah, they forced you to do something messed up, but the game was way too character focused to allow you to make a choice at the end. It's Joel's choice and I respected it out of that. Actually my favorite ending in any game. Personally I loved the combat, felt it did a really good job of blending stealth, action and survival mechanics. One of the few games that made getting caught in stealth fun and I respect it for that. Moments where I had to improvise after getting caught were by far my favorite in the game.

I'm curious what form Anthem will take. Bioware Edmonton (not that garbage studio that made Andromeda) has more fluctuated on RPG elements more than shied away from them. Inquisition and Mass Effect 3 each didn't hit what Origins and ME1 had respectively, but the leveling, equipment customization, and (in Inquisition's case) role playing were stronger than each series' second installment. So it could be much more involved RPG wise than its counterparts Destiny and The Division which didn't come from a developer whose roots are in RPGs (regardless of what they make now)

And they did get significantly better with action each entry even if that was shying away from what put them on the map is one of their biggest issues. Which Anthem seems to be them magnifying that issue. A lot of conflicting reactions on this one. The game looks neat and has a cool concept, but doesn't seem like it's playing to Bioware's strengths and even if their main studio's games are still good, there's a diminishing return on them.

He directed Super, Fusion, Zero Mission, and Other M. Wouldn't really call that poison even if Other M was a huge misfire.

I'd recommend giving Generations more of a try before jumping in on Forces. Colors DS is very little like the Wii one or Generations, it's actually a pretty good game, but I could tell immediately there would be issues when I played the demo for Forces, many of which they haven't fixed from the last games.

And I feel Metroid was more of a special announcement, if they just showed us Samus Returns, it would have been great, but the future of the series would be a question mark. With MP4 official, Nintendo gave its fans assurance that they're willing to give a AAA Metroid game for those who want that and a retro throwback for people who prefer 2D to Prime. It's less them just showing off and more them letting fans know where the franchise is heading. Same with Pokemon, it let fans know the Switch is the real future for the franchise. We'll need to see more obviously, but just for E3 this year, that's enough. Let Mario have the spotlight for now.

I don't think Nintendo earned the reputation of empty promises, I can't remember the last time they actually cancelled a game after announcing it. What I played of Sonic Forces was very troubling, they still have the blah controls and level design of Generations and Colors. Sonic Mania on the other hand is exactly what I wanted and I can't wait for that. I'm hoping Anthem is good, but I'm very worried about modern Bioware.

I didn't get to play much at E3, but what I played of Super Lucky's Tale made it my favorite game of the show, think it will be something really special. Also loved Mario Odyssey, Metroid, Dragonball Fighter Z, and am cautiously optimistic on Anthem.

Microsoft Shows a lot at E3, but is it Enough?

Personally, they gave me a reason to keep my XB1 with Original Xbox BC. That's good enough for me. Plenty of games that look good too that I'll get on Playstation/PC instead
