No. There is no LOL about this. Just no. Whoa, yes.

Congrats on the purchase. It is my fav system currently. Have you heard of a game called Fire Emblem Awakening? Yeah. Me too.
Dying makes you stronger in Dark Souls, as a player anyway. Not so much here. Just reload and try again, or suck it up and move on.
I don't care about my party characters. To hell with them. But if your main characters die in battle it's game over. So you'll be kicking ass, being all strategic 'n shit, then the game will suddenly kick you in the crotch and punch you in the face at the same time in a not so subtle fuck you gesture.
It's a little abusive. I don't know that you can say these games are fun like a mario game "fun". They are supposed to be hard, but good lord!
A reason why I didn't buy Bioshock and avoiding any content related to it. I'll eventually buy it, hopefully before fall when we get an avalanche of new games and systems, but not now.
Teaching. I hope you don't make the mistake of being overly nice and approachable. You only have one chance to affirm you are in control, otherwise it's an uphill battle.
Will the community jump into your game play session and battle you? That would be funny. PvP. Now you have the game and other players trying to kill you. Does the game even have PvP? I need to finish up Demon's Souls.
I think I'll wait for the ultimate-game-of-the-year-gold-box+dlc version of the game. When a game has universal praise, I have an urge to call out bullshit. A lot of what I read that's good about the game are the "disney" style art of the world which doesn't really explain the gory violence in most screen shots of the game. So which is it? A nice disney movie, or a splatter fest gun movie?
If you liked BG I suggest watching BG: Blood & Chrome. It was a 9 mini-episode prequel series on youtube that I think is worth watching. It had good acting, visual effects and story. Watching the episodes from beginning to end with a pair of headphones on, it felt like watching a movie. Very good.
