I played Fez. Didn't like it. Didn't strike me as being a very good game, or even much of a game at all, really. Doesn't mean that I think that folks who do like it are wrong or anything, it just wasn't my cup 'o joe is all.

As for Fish, I feel like if someone spends nearly all of his time in the public eye acting like a prick, he needs to steel himself against the blowback he'll invariably receive for doing it. He can't waltz around acting like a dick and tactlessly express his opinions like a socially-inept child and expect that folks won't react to it. Of course they will! Even folks with no great personal investment in whatever he's said will line up to put him in his place for saying it, because that's what people do to assholes!

Now I'm not saying that two wrongs make a right, but that you get out of this world what you put into it. If you go through life acting like an asshole, you're going to be treated like one. It sucks, but if we didn't have a system of checks and balances in place to keep assholes in line, we'd all be worse off for it.

As a semi-related aside, I'm really absolutely disgusted by the handful of journalists who have tried to make a martyr out of Fish. People didn't just decide to start picking on him. He had a hand in that. Yeah, some of us could stand to grow up, but so could Fish.

Doubtful, dude. You've put a pretty fine point on how much all of this shit sucks. There's no reason to believe that it's gonna suddenly stop sucking next generation. It's probably gonna look prettier, but it's still gonna slurp away just the same.

And really, even if a miracle happened and suddenly videogames stopped being total shit-suckers, you gotta consider that gamers aren't going to suddenly grow the hell up and stop being insufferable little pieces of shit. I mean, even if they were capable of that sort of growth, this is the internet, where acting like mentally-stunted manchildren isn't just an expectation, it's a pastime. With social features being important cornerstones of both Sony and Microsoft's respective next-gen consoles, I'm not about to increase my exposure to these Cheeto-stained social-rejects. Not when I'd already like to fire them out of a cannon and into the heart of the Sun.

So yeah, if you believe that shit's gonna get better, I pity you. Almost as much as I would if I thought that you actually believed any of this shit. :P

Hell yeah they were! Wreck-It-Ralph in particular was surprisingly awesome. I didn't expect the flick to be as fun as it was, and it had a fair bit 'o heart too.

For sure. Disney is in a fine position here, and I think people would be surprised to find out just how many of us Star Wars fans think that Lucas not being involved with the new flicks can only be a good thing.

Under his rule we got Midichlorians, an angsty Anakin who just so happened to build C3PO, a young Anakin awkardly piloting a ship to legitimize a single line of dialogue that Obi Wan said in Episode IV, Anakin eagerly embracing the Dark Side because he doesn't understand the concept of self-fulfilling prophecy, and Padme dying of a broken heart minutes after giving birth, because apparently her newborn children weren't enough of a motivation to live. Oh, and the "romance" between Anakin and Padme for that matter. Ugh. 

So...yeah, I think we're going to be fine without him. :)

I resent Microsoft for the position it has put me in this upcoming generation. I don't want to miss out on their exclusives, but with Microsoft having taken a non-commital stance when asked if it wouldn't reverse policies again somewhere down the line, I'm just not comfortable with buying an XBox One. As someone who loves videogames at large, it sucks.

Yeah. Gamers suck, man. Games too. I think I'm gonna go sell all my systems and games and wash my hands of the hobby altogether, because it's only going to get worse from here on out.

EDIT: Playing a videogame in which a woman/women was/were portrayed in a less than ideal manner is no more necessarily reflective of how the player views women than playing a violent videogame is of a desire to commit mass-murder. I sometimes wonder if the folks who make a big deal about this might just be doing so, not because they feel that videogames are going to turn us into women-abusing dicks, but because they want the hobby to be accepted as a form of art and they're worried that stuff like this reflects poorl on it.

How stupid would that be? .
