I had the Atari 8 but version of Qix. In the mid 90s at truck stops on vacation, I saw a soft core pornographic clone of Qix called Gals Panic. The object was to uncover young ladies in increasing stages of undress. If you did the puzzle wrong it would change the girl into a ninja or some other goofy picture.
My most wanted N64 games other than Majora's Mask are Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon, Harvest Moon 64, and Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness. I really want to see some Gamecube games start showing up on Switch. For me, the GameCube righted a lot of things the N64 did wrong.
My GOTY was Shin Megami Tensei V. Worth the four years I waited for it. I know people said 2021 was a weak year, but between Nintendo, Capcom, and Sega, I found plenty to play.
Cage Match:
I'm going with Chrono Cross, but that's more by default. It wasn't really as good as Chrono Trigger. Due to limited gaming funds, I passed over it on its initial release in favor of Valkyrie Profile, which went on to become one of my favorite PS1 games. Playing Chrono Cross later affirmed my original decision.
I had high hopes for Xenosaha. Xenogears was my second favorite game of 1998 after Ocarina of Time. It was my favorite PS1 game that didn't have the word "Final" in the title. Xenosaga was quite a slog, and I play a lot of games that others would consider to be a slog. I dropped it by the wayside when I got a GameCube and started playing WInd Waker and Skies of Arcadia Legends. I did feel kind of bad when it fizzled out, but Xenoblade more than made up for it. I actually loved it more than Xenogears.
And I wish my copy of Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance hadn't been stolen....
I definitely want to see Twilight Princess HD and Wind Waker HD come to Switch. It would make the Switch that much closer to having a comprehensive Zelda collection. At that point, you'd just be missing the handheld Zeldas after Link's Awakening. And I personally wouldn't mind the Oracle games, Minish Cap, or A Link Between Worlds getting the LA HD treatment. Not sure how they would do the DS games since they made them so dependent on the touch screen.
I actually never played Xenoblade Chroncies X, so that would be a new experience on the Switch.
I found the game I was thinking of. It was Tooth Invaders, for the C64.
The main FFVI World of Balance theme, Terra, is one of the best overworld themes I've ever heard in a game. One track I like that doesn't get a lot of love is The Floating Continent, which is one of the final precursors before things go to hell at the halftime mark.
Nowadays you can get it on Steam. But I'm really digging Ys 9 right now.
I rented the SNES version of Ys 3 a long, long time ago. Before that I was a fan of Faxanadu. But for a long time, the only place I saw Falcom games was on sites like RPGamer, though I know they did Brandish on SNES and Popful Mail on Sega CD. Ys VI and The Legend of Heroes on PSP really seemed to kick-start Falcom in the US in the mid 00s.
I did watch that video last year, on my blog on Falcom's Dragon Slayer/Legend of Heroes games.
