Guild Wars 2 Players

My wife and I do! Well, I mean, we haven't played in a couple weeks. Well, maybe a month and a half. But dang it, we're not done with that game yet! I can't tell you off the top of my head what server we're on (seems like it was something Terrace) but I'm around the level 28 mark, I think.

Very cool! I've listened to a few more of his songs and he's definitely kind of crazy lol but also quite funny. And I see what you mean about this one fitting his voice better than maybe some of his others.

You're in luck! If you go to the OCR page here for the song and click on the lyrics tab, it'll show you all the words. (I always link the remix title to its OCR page.)

I've seen it now lol. That's almost more wittiness than you can take in at once. I love the little things like shooting tomatoes lol

Retro Game of the Week: Fighting Force

Posted on 06/26/2013 at 03:17 PM | Filed Under Blogs

Glad I never bothered to play this game lol. I think beat-'em-ups in 3D need to be fundamentally different than 2D ones. For whatever reason, just walking up and punching a dude a bunch of times is fun in 2D...but so boring in 3D. You can't take what works in 2D and just force it into 3D. That's why the 3D Contra games all sucked. (I hear Neo Contra isn't so terrible but I haven't played it and they removed the ability to jump anyway, which makes it sound like an extension of the top down stages from Super C.) I think the case can be made that Devil May Cry is the 3D successor to the 2D beat-'em-up. You're doing similar things, like punchin' fools in the face, but the fundamentals are different, relying on connected combos. That game certainly has fluid combat! Another couple games I'd suggest you check out...if you ever get the chance...is The Warriors and God Hand, both for the PS2. They're beat-'em-ups and both highly regarded but I haven't played them, so I can't really comment on how they compare.

Good review! I was surprised you gave it even 2 stars but I suppose it's not a broken game, just a supremely boring one.

3rd Birthday: Impressions

Posted on 06/26/2013 at 03:00 PM | Filed Under Blogs

Finally reading some of these posts I missed. Glad to hear you like The 3rd Birthday so much! I picked it up new for $10 at a Best Buy back in December but haven't played it yet. I'd been wondering if I needed to play the other two games first though. I've always wanted to play Parasite Eve but just have never had the opportunity (though I think the first one is on PSN now...but not the second...don't remember). Judging by what you said, sounds like I should play at least PE if not both of them before tackling 3rd Birthday. Is that what you'd suggest?

Wow, very nice! You are a versatile chap indeed! I think I like the pen drawings best of all these. If I had artistic skills like that, I'd just sit around and draw all day lol. Wish I could. Looking forward to that Zelda painting!

Ah, high school. Enjoy your free time because life only gets busier from here (man, I sound old lol). I like Panic! at the Disco's most recent album, Vices and Virtues (or is it the other way around?). Good stuff!

As for Sonic CD (saw you mention it above), I've heard the iOS version is very good. They also completely overhauled the iOS version of Sonic 1 recently and vastly improved it. So if you'd rather have that in your pocket, it'd be a good choice too. If you just want something fun to pass the time, I'd suggest Super Hexagon, Scurvy Scallywags, or Polara. There are tons of great iOS games Smile

Retro Game of the Week: Shatterhand

Despite being released in 1991, it's definitely a product of the '80s. A cop with cybernetic arms? Of COURSE he's going to wear jeans and sunglasses and a sleeveless jacket! Lol. Great game. I love how it added its own unique bits to the beat-'em-up formula. There still is not another game quite like it.
