Primal Eyes: Ben talks about all things Aya Brea!

That's the one upside to the digital age: If you're willing to only have a digital version, then you don't have to pay exuberent prices for out of print or rare physical copies!

You're right on about the children, which is why I decided to make the act and the actual dead children unseen, but still make it obvious she did it and the stains from it. The two doctors actually are her parents, hence why she had the infallible trust in the first experiement, how she feels like she's getting a pretty gift from her mom in the second one, and then, when she's old enough to realize something is wrong in the third one, she does finally realize what's going on.

That's what I love about Atlus, is they have these deep, mature games and have a good enough fanbase that the games can flourish and there's enough of a fan community for discussion to take place. I do think they'll probably be my first publisher I pitch to if I don't do self-publishing. It'll all depend on how much I can do before this game and if I can build up a "backlog revenue" to self-fund and self-publicize it all, which I doubt will happen, haha!

Sadly Ben, I have not seen Elfen Lied, and have only seen parts of GitS:SAC, but never got into it because the main character girl just looked off to me somehow. I know they're both considered great animes, and I will try to find Elfen Lied this summer, but I just never seem to be able to get into GitS no matter how hard I try!

The one downside is, I hope to someday make this mainstream, or if not that, at least something that is outside of things like the XBLA or PSN. My goal had been to either self-publish or get it with NISA or Atlus, and after NISA has been butchering stuff lately, I'd probably try for Atlus, as my idea, at least I feel like, is closest to the Shin Megami Tensei series, minus the demons. Alas, it's still quite some years off, so I'll see how the market is at the time!

First off, thanks for the reply Joe! First off, to the crumbling Kingdom tower, it's an extremely tall tower, essentially like a mix between a skyscraper and cell phone tower that can reach out for miles upon miles. When it is crumbling, it's essentially like termites destroying the building at an extremely rapid pace, but they're not termites that's causing the destruction, and it's things like steel, concrete, and rebar being destroyed. I still have to decide exactly how I want to make it work, but I'll think of something.

And I admit the deaths, especially of the children, did go by kind of fast, because as you stated, it's meant to be more of a study of Sophie, and how broken she really is, despite being this pretty, happy, peppy girl on the outside.

In respect to Ray killing the one guy, it does seem very uncalled for, but as other parts, which I still have to type out, will show, Ray is somewhat the same as Sophie, although with a different backstory. He doesn't have the mental trauma Sophie does, but his big issue is, he has the equivalent of two of those gems in him, and one that has grown itself. He was given ones that give him control of fire and darkness, and from those, they spawned the power of death in him. From the death and darkness being a large part of him, he is prone to losing control to them at times. He was so angry at a major point of the preperations for their final assault being stopped, he lost control, and death took its hold, hence how the claymore was encased in the darkness and changed to a scythe. It was more just a lead-up to the actual meat of this scenario, and Ray is explored in other scenes.

Thanks for the feedback, and I'll try to get something with Ray up sometime soon! I have something that shows his wrath/anger typed from when I wanted to originally write this as a book when younger, and I should be able to get it typed up by the end of next week since my girlfriend will be on vacation then and I'm in a writing mood again!

A Small Collection of Poetry

Some great poetry Kay! And this is coming from someone who normally doesn't "get" poetry at all, haha! I intend to show my girlfriend "Cure" tomorrow if it's ok with you! =)

Ben's thoughts on XBox one and female butts!

Posted on 05/22/2013 at 09:27 PM | Filed Under Blogs

I'm more of a breast man myself, but can appreciate a good butt when I see one. That picture you gave was one, there's quite a few in hentai, and I actually quite like my girlfriend's. It's nice walking up the stairs behind her at her place, cause I can get away with it in front of her dad, haha (let the pedophile comments commence!). Really, me being more of a breast man is probably chalked up to my history with butt issues. With all my medical stuff you've heard about, I've had a bleeding butt, fingers up my butt from doctors and having them spread it to examine, sores, etc. And of course the coup de grace, completely losing my rectum and most of my anus, and now that it's sealed, just useless fat I could use elsewhere on my body, haha!

On the Xbox One, I think it's one of the saddest things out there. It's like how the Wii was in the second half of its life, except WORSE. Anymore, it seems like just Sony that actually remembers who made their system family what it is. I can't wait to add you as a friend on my PSN list come the PS4!!!

Also, I saw some blurbs in your last blog about Gods Eater Burst. How are you enjoying it? I bought it last week, and am going to play it as soon as I finish up Black Rock Shooter. Maybe if the PS4 still does ad-hoc play and there hasn't been a new Gods Eater, we can play in the future!

A quick question to my fellow gamers

Thanks! It's going to depend largely on player choice on how the main character reacts to her, but all the others will slowly become more and more uneasy around her when this stuff happens. This is not just one instance of showing she has an evil within her, as there are different spots all throughout the story where stuff like this comes out, but it is spaced out enough at the same time that you can still like the character and she can still retain a title of a protaganist.

And I hate to say this to someone interested in it, but it is mostly still in my head. I'm just 18 now, 19 in a month, and am starting classes this fall on game design. I know there's other methods I could use such as RPG maker, etc, but it's a large project once put to paper, and it will actually end up spanning genres, so I need to know how to make games from the ground up for it to function properly. But I'll probably be slowly working on it throughout my classes, too!

Thanks for your comments sneen and lee. As you say, it is considered a pretty evil thing, but one thing I want to emphasize is grey and gray morality. There are good people who do bad things because they feel it is for the greater good, and evil people who do good things but only to advance their evil intentions. In this instance, it would be shown that at the moment, with her own past flashing before her eyes, she feels that it would be easier on them to be dead as she wished she was when she was just an experiment, but once Ray, the main character, yells at her asking her why when she could have just taken them with her, she breaks down realizing she made a huge mistake, and gets conflicted with two parts of her own psyche.

To pull it off in the way it needs to affect the player, I will need to refine it again and again to get it just right, but i hope once I get it to that exact point, that it will enrage, sadden, and make the player wonder exactly how broken this girl is, all at the same time. It's a thin line to tread on between just enraging the player, and make them think it was just thrown in for shock value. It'll probably be one of the hardest parts for me to write out of the whole story, but I hope I can pull it off and give these mixed emotions.

I just want my nerd-topia!

Ben, one alternative to Third Birthday, at least from what I have heard, is Black Rock Shooter. It came out on the PSN on the 23rd for $20, and is extremely fun. Most of my gaming has been split between it and Devil Survivor 2 lately. I haven't played Third Birthday, but I have heard it and Black Rock Shooter have relatively the same gameplay. Except Black Rock Shooter has more of an anime-style look and has a cute girl instead of Aya. And one costume is torn clothes. Really, it's up in the air for you between them cause they're pretty close, but I will say, I recommend BRS whether you get Third Birthday or not.

Also, I'm probably gonna get God Eaters Burst on my Vita next month too! I keep on seeing the sexy Russian girl around the net, and well.... My 18 year old self can't hold back any longer! Hahaha!

Gaming isn't what it used to be!

I honestly think I could probably be called a "Japanese elitist" at times, but honestly, it's just because I have a lot more respect for the games and the developers over there than I do here. When you look at the development cycles and effort put into so many Japanese games, especially when you compare the staff numbers to Western game design studios, you can just tell that so many more Japanese developers pour their heart and soul into their creations. We're both guilty of the "pump a new one out every year" thing, but it is much more noticeable here in America.

As for the objectification part, I feel like the "cartoon girls" and all actually help many men. I know for me, it has helped me get my girlfriend who is amazing and beautiful, but if not for the "perfect anatomy" of "cartoon girls", I probably would have been too obsessed "chasing sexy tail" to recognize her. These cartoons actually can be the thing to quench our thirst for the unobtainable, and make some of us treat regular women even better. They can even help some men calm down their sexual urges, thus making them LESS of a risk for committing sexual indecencies. Just my 2 cents.
