It always fun to discover a long existing genre that's new to you. It's like being a kid again.

When I said that bit about the Genesis being the system for shooters, I meant just for its time as a major component of the 16-bit era. There were just so many shooters on that console and they were usually fast paced and did well with the Genesis hardware.
But I understand where you're coming from though. Thanks for reading!
I'm with Kathrine on this one. I'm not so sure that whatever is coming next will be better, or even as good as Club Nintendo. I'm not sure if I want to register the rest of the games I have now. Or wait until this all goes to pot and they hit the reset button. The fact that they encouraging us to use our points now tell me that the current method of registering for points will not carry over into the new way.
Ah, so you could shoot the dog-- just needed to be in the arcade to see it. Nice. Whatever Ninendo's reason for taking it out of the NES version, I find it interesting that you can shoot the dog in Barker Bill's Trick Shooting.
Wow, we had the same Action Set at around the same time. My brother won money from his school for being the top honor student, so dad took us to Toys R Us and we got the NES with my brother's money (who's name happens to be Mario). It was sometime in 1989...probably spring or early summer.
Anyway, yeah...Super Mario Brothers definitely overshadowed Duck Hunt after the first day we hooked up the system. Though I gotta admit...I'm still a sucker for light gun games. No matter how repetitive they are. Of course, I haven't played them all, so could very well change one day.
That article has "desperation" written all over it. I can't even take that stuff seriously. His reasoning is...flawed, to say the least. *face palms*
Like Angelo, I'm all about that Ace Combat series from the PS1 to the Xbox 360 era. Loved the music in AC 6. It just a shame that the series has been boiled down to the "free to play" module With Ace Combat Online. I spent $20 on it, but it hasn't been worth the price so far.
Yeah, I finally caved and decided to just get games on the Virtual Console instead of hunting for the physical carts. Just isn't worth the money.
It's the scalpers, man. They snatch up all the pre-orders and charge more than double the price on eBay. I hate greed.
Here's a good talking point: Nintendo had a better year in 2014 with the Wii U and key releases like Super Smash Bros. 3DS & Wii U. They also did great job in drumming up interest in future releases with their Nintendo Direct-- Splatoons, Captain Toad, Amiibo, Legend of Zelda. Good stuff to look forward to in 2015. Overall, the Wii U is picking up steam at the right time.
Also, maybe you could briefly speak on Gamergate and how it contributed to 2014 being a lousy year for lots of regular gamers like us. No need to get too deep into details. Most listeners probably know all about it by now.
