Rise of the Tomb Raider Impressions

Well, if it doesn't focus on combat then I'm more interested in it now. What I watched on twitch was like survivalism in the wild or something. Not sure if that was a small segment or if the whole game is like that. The stealth parts didnt bother me, as most TR games have had combat segments and could use improvements.

I watched gameplay on Twitch, and it looked very pretty. I remember seeing some stealth segment gameplay and some outdoors combat, Uncharted and Last of Us were the vibes it gave me, but not TR. Isnt PS4 supposed to get a super version with extra DLC or something? I dont love ALL of the Uncharted games either, except for maybe 2. Too much gunning for my taste. I just want to explore a little and not have to kill everything I see all the time.

Comparing RotTR to originals would be pointless from me, but I still much prefer the classics. I know they are different to the reboots, but this looks like a good safe 3rd person action game with good gameplay and visuals. I love old TR, but dont care about the new ones. I liked the platforming challenge the originals offered. I'll wait for the inevitable return to Egypt or Mexico with grand tombs and puzzles to try.  But not this so much.

Looking back now, was it really that difficult?

When Ecclesia came out, all the Castlevanias on DS were more like the SoTN style. It had been years since I played an old school vania like 1, 4 on SNES or Dracula X. It's like Demons Souls vs Dark Souls. I love me some Demons, thus I love me those other Vanias that aren't like SoTN too. But I was surprised at how Soulsy Ecclessia was. Really loved it.

I thought Silent Hill O was hot garbage at the time, but I wasn't sure if it was cheap and unfair or if I just sucked at it? Shattered Memories is a much better experience because of the lack of combat.

Black Desert looks gorgeous, but I doubt my PC rig can handle it. It's also like $30 and I can't demo it, so I'll just have to wait for content patches and price drops, possibly new PC rig. BD seems to have a vague open world approach to questing, which seems kind of odd. Not sure if it's unfinished or intentional.

I Really Don't Like Street Fighter V :¬/

Funny you mention this now, as I was thinking the same thing about SF5. I got back into fighters with Guilty Gear Revelator, which is very fast paced and deep enought to keep me interested for a long time. I've only really learned like 2 characters moveset and it took me a while to do that. Point being, its full of animations, yet it is super fast and fluid, actually maybe too fast. I took out my Dreamcast and started play SNK v Street Fighter again. I really loved and sill love that game for merging my two favorite games. You should check out the new King of Fighters demo on PS4, as it seems to have simple combat moves but I feel it moves much faster than even SF5. The mortal kombat games still feel abit slow for me too. Guilty Gear all the way though!!!!

ok well my

PSN id is sharky_321 and my
Neverwinter handle is ATTAMI@SHARKY_321
I've been playing neverwinter since launch and casually jump in and play.
I have a Paladin lvl 20.

As for Riders of Icarus, I have one char on each of the 3 servers, so let me know if you ever play that game so I can add you to friends list.

Also, is it worth to get the upgrade for Guild Wars 2 or buy Elder Scrolls Online for PS4? Neverwinter seems to be giving me what I want right now, and I still have to finish Dragon Agi INQ.

I had a similar issues with performance on PC. So far the game has frozen a couple of times, but it was very busy on launch day and surprisingly not that many problems for a launch. I've seen a lot of people in chat saying this game is a nice distraction from DCU Online. It plays very much like a single player RPG, except for dungeons, but I was able to beat the first one with randoms without needing to chat. Very hack-n-slashy gamey. I'll keep playing off and on until Star Trek Online launches on PS4 later in the year.

The game is pretty streamlined and straightforward. It feels a bit like Dragon Age Inquisition. So far I'm soloing and haven't had any real problems just doing sidequests.
