Blake's E3 Recap Part 2

Posted on 06/21/2016 at 02:11 PM | Filed Under Blogs

Well I started the game on highest difficulty, and I liked it more once I went outdoors in the red dirt. I liked the elevated level twisty turny design. I might look for it on PC.

I still don't enjoy open worlds, I might be doomed.

and about RE7 demo,

Im enjoying people loose their shit on twitch trying to solve, or at least find evidence of a hidden puzzle. I've seen people do everything from change options setting numbers in the  system menu to match number combos in the game to take the axe and hit every damned wall in that house. There are also different ghost girl sightings depending on certain actions. It's all very meta and I'm not sure if it's intentional or not? It's fascinating to see a community build around this thing. I missed out on PT since I didn't have a ps4 at the time, but I'm enjoying watching the craziness this time and I'm having fun!

I think Witcher 3 in harder difficulty is a better experience with combat. You're right, you have to research enemies and be prepared for each hunt, just like in Monster Hunter. Otherwise, you can cut through both simple enemies and monsters alike with little difficulty which is a really cheap experience.

DA:I had a really interesting thing going on with the Days of Future Past time travel thing going on. I'm not sure how much of it will come back in the rest of the game, but after it happened, it just went back to fetch questing? I would have enjoyed the story and characters more had it been more like the more story-driven DA2 I think, but this open world kind of gets in the way of the good stuff honestly.

Isn't Alienation that game where you can kill your coop partners with friendly fire? I thin I played the demo a while ago, but because it was based around coop, I opted out. I'll look into it again.

Okay, thats interesting because I downloaded the Doom demo on PS4 and I was playing just as terribly. The thing is that, even though I haven't really been playing FPS in a while, I do enjoy the horror based ones anyway, and the thing is that I usually prefer playing them on PC. With that said, I cant remember the last time I played a FPS on ps4, and it took me a while to adjust as well. The aiming was really weird and there is this mechanic where you have to shoot-stun enemies and do a finishing move with melee or something. Anyway, that video is exactly how I started out at first, but got better. That was my experience anyway. It's stupid to have a controversy over that. I wonder if they got better towards the end of the game?

I was doing a PC games at E3 list and Vampyr was coming up, and I think surge was as well -the scifi dark souls.

I think the definition of open world game is a bit too vague or all-inclusive at this point. I've put about 20+ hours into Inquisiton, and so far it is my least favorite of the three. I don't know how it got so many high scores. The combat, I'd say is even more simplified than Witcher, which alot of people complained about it lacking depth. Comparing it to Witcher is probably a mistake, its probably more like FF12 or Xenoblade-- or in the single MMO genre like Dragons Dogma, which I found more fun than this. The open world is beautiful, the fetch quests aren't interesting, and it's mostly full of objectives to clear to become powerful which is very boring. Unlocking a new area feel like more of a chore to complete than an adventure to explore. The main story is interesting but I feel like the main part of the game, combat, is uninspiring and boring, especially after Witcher 3. I'm seriously bouncing off this game hard. Frown

I've heard a few podcast discussing zelda and how nintendo is late to the open world table, but they also will give us their take on open world which will be unique and different, okay, I'll have to wait and see. I liked Links little ipad thingy where he was downloading apps from all those mini dungeons. I watched a lot of the gameplay and it felt alot like Inquisition honestly, but I hope it doesnt pepper the map with objective points and give you lame, boring items to collect. Like I said before, I want Nin to borrow from the best open world examples, and not the worst, like cheaply padding the game experience.

I've enjoyed all of the God of War games, as purely just fun. I liked the mythology too. I'll give this new game a chance, but I got Tomb Raider vibes from it, I don't know?

What is the beef with Polygon? I must have missed that.

Anyhow, I was pretty excited about Modern Warfare, and I don't care too much about that series. This cross between star trek/battlestar sounds cool, but how much of this game will be in space and how much will the floaty zero-g carry out throughout the game?

I'm all in for Vampyr. There is also a cyber dark souls game with robots, but I forgot what that was called? Eww open world Andromeda, count me out. Undecided

Current gen is now complete
