Thanks Lee. I love Ms. Pac-Man too. Ironically I have the full arcade rom thanks to a Xbox Arcade sampler way back when the first Xbox started it.

Why Nintendo should buy SEGA

Posted on 05/23/2013 at 12:59 AM | Filed Under Blogs

I've got to disagree. Sega would actually make less money because what saving the company right now is its huge PC division and app exploits. Take away those two from them and Sega would be finacially screwed, meaning Nintendo would had to pump in more money to keep it a float and that's a bad move. It would be like how Yahoo bought Tumblr, Yahoo spent more money on a service that is free and is somewhat self sutainable...and they spent a over a Bilion dollars on that. Nintendo is not in the red but it really needs to avoid costly mistakes like that.

Sorry for the very late response. Linda Li is amazing with what she does. All of her stuff is primarly hand made by her which makes it even more amazing. Thanks for the response too.

Cary's Top Five Favorite DC Comics Characters!

I'm more of a Marvel guy but my favorites are Batman, DC Animated Verison of Green Lantern, Batwing, Rorach and Owlman from Watchmen, and Batman Beyond. You might like Black Canary and Zatana. There both pretty cool characters.

Nintendo @ E3: WAT

Posted on 04/26/2013 at 12:58 AM | Filed Under Blogs

Actually this completely has to do with Nintendo Direct, as they have been really sucessful. Nintendo annouced so much good stuff on there it would really make an E3 apperance redunant. Plus, it allows Nintendo to go at there own pace. Why wait till June to announce something when you can do it at your lesure. Really I have to agree with SanAdreas, E3 is loosing its importance. The luster it once had is pretty much gone because the large scale speciticals it puts are aren't really worth the trouble or money. Besides Nintendo isn't the one whose not seeing the importance of E3 this year. Sony announced their PS4 before E3 and Microsoft is announcing the next Xbox on the 21st of May, even though the PS3 and 360 both premiered at E3. It's no really worth the effort anymore to go all out when other conventions, like PAX and GDC, have proven to be better and more suceessful avenues.

Misogyny and Games: Isn't it just your Problem?

That's a really good point,Grant.

I'm quite curious how the writer of the post on Kotaku reacted to last year's Code of Princess. It's a similar style of game with a similar sexual design with its characters. The only difference its its lead artist, ex-Capcom artist Kinu Nishimura, was a woman. Does that mean her design is exempt from critique of its sexual design? No. It doesn't even mean that Nishimura likes that type of design, just something that might have fit the game better. I think it would have made for a much better argument and interesting perspective if he had started by comparing and contrasting those two games. I don't know. Forgive me for rambling.

Misogyny and Games: Isn't it just your Problem?

I think both parties are at fault in the Dragon's Crown case. The writer on Kotaku started it poorly. Yeah he apologized and the follow up had some good points but seriously there wasn't any other way to start this discussion by calling out the guy as a 14 year old? That's seriously bad professionalism. Kamitiati's response wasn't any better either, though it might have litterally got lost in translation. On Gamasutra, there's good piece on how negatively his response was taken by one guy. Its seriously sad that we can even come to the table to talk about important things like this in gaming when neither side can't act like adults to discuss it.

Filler Blog: Ask Cary Stuff

Thank you for the response. Actually, for the second question, I think your more qualified to ask than me which why I posed it too you. I think seasoned fighitng game players like myself can learn a thing from other players with differing perspectives. The improvments to make fighting games acessible, while very nice and noble in gesture, largely come from hardcore fighting enustaists which may not always be what's best.
