I played Aegis Wing a quite a few years ago and you are right that is a pretty good game, especially for being free. I don't remember if I beat it, but I do remember it getting pretty difficult.
I'm just waiting for Tomb Raider to hit that magic price point of $20 for me to pick it up. Lots of games to keep me occupied in the meantime anyway.
Wow that sucks! I wonder how 20 of your games managed to vanish like that. If you do get Front Mission, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Surprisingly, the game still has a fair amount of strategy despite being completely different from the other games.
The character portraits are definitely nice. Something tells me they were done by completely different people than whoever redid the backgrounds and sprites.
It is really weird that they would create so many remakes for a game that already looked great to begin with. Lunar has become pretty infamous for its non-stop remakes and rereleases, but I think the only way for a definitive version is just to bundle all the games in one copy!
I have seen that 2009 film based on "Button, Button." It was called "The Box" and I would wager it did ruin the original story as it made no sense and a lot of things were told very abstractly. I should probably check out the Twilight Zone sometime.

I don't know if their's one game I'd go to. Probably one of my favorite RPGs from the PS1 that I haven't played in a while are good pick-me-up games. Though I do like to play Gears of War when I'm angry!
I can see what you mean by the unskippable battle animations. It is incredibly annoying to be up against a large group of enemies and have to wait for each of them to finish the same long-winded attack.
Looking at screenshots of the original, I get feelings of nostalgia and I didn't even play it! Maybe their was an issue with fitting the original graphics on the UMD, but I am not really a fan of the new style anyway. It looks like it was farmed out to a team that had little familiarity to the original game.

Not noticing anything sluggish about the battle system, but I haven't played it that long either. My main gripe so far is that you can't switch to the original graphics. That should be given for all game remakes.
Code Geass is incredibly addicting. I watched the whole first series in three days watching I believe even ten episodes without stopping! Yeah, the story is pretty silly but it's so fast paced and exciting I found it hard to stop watching. I also bought the entire Death Note series for $25 last month. Haven't got to it yet, but I'm sure I will love it based off what other people have said.
Dune is a confusing book at first and I wouldn't recommend reading it unless you are willing to commit to it. The payoff is really worth it though once you get into sucked into its world.
Very detailed and unique artwork. You don't see this kind of stuff churned out of the Hollywood machine!
