The only kart racer I ever really got into was Crash Team Racing on PS1. My brother and me played that game to death. I've heard people mention this game on Youtube though. Most of them say it's a hidden gem.
That's cool you got a PS4 and a new Vita. My brother got a PS4 but he doesn't have any games for it. There literally isn't anything out right now that he wants. Although that will change next year. Good luck with the weight loss. I need to lose some weight too. I'm sure the upcoming Christmas festivities aren't gonna help lol.

Sonic 2 is classic. Out of all the genesis games I own, that's the one I usually always end up playing. Genesis had some great titles that were unique to the system. Contra Hard Corps, Castlevania Bloodlines, and Mutant League Football are some of my favorites.
I have played Doom and Doom 2 enough times in my life to know that the second one is harder. Trust me lol. I don't ever die in the original Doom. Doom 2 kicks my ass a lot. Doom 2 is awesome, but I just prefer the original. I had written a really long review of Doom 2 way back when on 1up that explained all of this in elaborate detail. It's gone now though because of my idiocy.
PS. I couldn't help but notice you bought Hexen on Steam lol. 
It seems like Nintendo is making their games easier and easier these days. There's a White Tanooki suit in Mario 3D World that makes you invincible for the whole level. I wish I could play Link Between Worlds, but alas... no 3DS. Ah well. There's always Link to the Past to go back to over and over.
I heard that Windows 8 is really bad. My friend said it doesn't even have a damn start button, and people complained so much about that, that MS had to add one in there lol. Steam is a great platform for games though. There's so much good stuff on there and a lot of it is dirt cheap. Beware those ultra ridiculous sales Joe! Beware!!! 
Doom is my favorite FPS of all time. I like Doom 2 a lot, but it's insanely difficult compared to the original. Don't even get me started on those damn Archviles lol.
I think I have Half Life 2 laying around here somewhere. I'll have to install it and see.
I'd say 90% of the PS3 games I own are forgettable rubbish, and I don't have much desire to revisit them. I'm playing Resistance 3 right now, and it certainly looks pretty, but in the back of my mind I'm thinking... I could just play Doom or Quake 3 instead. I can understand where you coming from, but to me it doesn't matter. Maybe I'm just getting old and cynical lol. 
Hooray for Doom 2! Hooray for Brutal Doom!!! Sometimes I can't decide whether I like RE 4 or RE 2 more. There's a couple games on here that I haven't played. I saw that Vampire Bloodlines is on Steam though and it looks awesome! I wonder if my laptop can handle it.
